He is a self serving uneducated scumbag who will say anything to promote himself! He lies constantly, but he has an equally uneducated audience. We need a spokesperson! Let me be it. How do I get there?

You're right, but I think that it's more than that. He appears to have serious mental issues. No one would have this level of obsession, derangement and anger without having some deeper issues. Someone really needs to dig deep into his personal background to see if there is some context for his aberrant behavior.

If you are in Florida, there’s a free advocacy training by Equality Florida coming up on 7/6. Even if you’re not a Floridian, this will probably help you prepare for the worst and definitely up your advocacy/Ally game.

Researching this tonight rather than getting sleep like a sensible person I find that Matt may have admitted to a crime https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/white-collar-crime/health-care-fraud

Another well researched an impeccably reasoned article by Erin. Kudos on a job well done. Unfortunately in the land of 5-second sound bytes it just doesn't matter. Matt Walsh's attacks do real damage to us and it doesn't matter if he's lying. His venom gives the Republicans just enough cover to proceed as making us "other" and thus easy targets to attack. It's a disgusting and effective strategy.

Addendum: I don't mean to say that Erin's efforts don't matter. They very much matter. They give us hope. They give us ammunition for when we're faced with BS arguments using deceptive or downright false information.

I guess a better way to say what I mean is that Erin's arguments aren't convincing any trans-haters.

I am currently using Folx as my med provider, and the service from the entire organization has been fantastic. My caregivers have been extremely responsive to my needs, and they have been coordinating my care with my PCP and my cardiologist. They even have online consultations and peer support groups if you feel the need to use them. Periodic blood work is provided and they have been very open about listening to my own concerns. They even wrote one of my two letters that I needed for my orchiectomy. The only shortcoming that I have encountered with them is that they do not accept insurance, but they do set up a payment plan that costs me about the same as what my insurance deductibles would be. What more could you ask for in a medical provider.

So why don’t some of the bigger orgs get together and sue the daily wire for promoting violence and false info the dailywire does not fit the test the court used to rule for YouTube in a section 230 case the court concluded that since YouTube livestreams eventually end up as recordings on YouTube and YouTube is an interactive service it met the section 230 test the court also concluded that YouTube could not be held liable for 3rd party content uploaded to its site Dailywire is unique as it is both the creator of content and the distributer thus is HAS control over content , it is non- interactive and going all the way back to the Viacom vs Ivi tv case it had all the characteristic of a broadcast channel broadcasts are not covered under section 230 seems like the only way to put Matt out of business is a lawsuit similar to Dominion vs Fox Newspaper

Fox News that is , it would have a chance of succeeded but it would be an expensive fight but also a very visible one

With people like him, someone so obsessed with a minority, I always wonder why.

It’s like with gay people; the loudest & most anti-gay are ALWAYS the ones with unresolved sexual attraction to others of the same sex.

Would certainly love to get a hold of Matt’s PornHub search-list.

My question is, might it a crime to seek medical treatment fraudulently? Seems as though he actually committed the misdeed he’s trying to expose. And if it was across state lines or telephonically, that might be a federal issue.

Expand full comment

From what I can tell it is a crime . All this got him was a surgery recommendation letter that starts not ends a process, imagine the first appointment with the doctor you can’t fool a blood test, this was a childish and possibly illegal act

Expand full comment

You can’t fake an illness to get treatment

I certainly hope they had permission of that provider to record that medical appointment... because many states require both parties to agree to being recorded. So, the state where the lying patient was - and the laws of the state where the provider was....

BTW, imagine how blissful it might be if Walsh took his head out of his a$$ and he and all the others so far in the closet* actually realized they could live in peace and not hate. (And that closet can be related to soooo many things, not only gender identity or sexual orientation... whatever happened to him that led to his pathology of vicious hate, fear, and lack of humanity!)

If they recorded that session, and then made it publicly available without the providers permission, there could very well be HIPAA consequences from it. Whether it was a valid session or not is a grey area, but perhaps worth some research.

Expand full comment

Not a HIPAA violation, as patients and clients hold their own privilege. One can share anything from their own medical records that they choose. However, they might have violated the provider's rights depending on what state they reside and the laws of that state.

Walsh will never eliminate us. A few generations ago, he would presumably have been trying to push gay people back into the closet. He can't eradicate us; all he can do is hurt us.

Evil reaps consequences; it's a natural law. Good begets good, and evil begets evil. In the end, evil consumes the evildoer. I don't say this to belittle or deny the suffering Walsh will cause; I say this to remind us that there is hope. As Gandhi said:

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”

Gandhi was right. Let us help one another in our suffering, remembering that what they do to one of us they do to all of us. Share your wealth, your time and your hearts to help deliver the suffering.

Is there no legal recourse to provide a consequence for Walsh, because he provided false identification and false information? Isn't his action here illegal? P.S. It was an honor to meet you at Colors+ in Fairview, Ohio -Cleveland Area- a couple weeks ago. You and Zooey make a wonderful couple AND a formidable team to wage this war against transphobia. Carry on! (Dave from Old Brooklyn)
