Wait until all those transphobic TERFs out there get the memo that they have to start wearing petticoats and learn to bake because guess who the REAL targets of all this hysteria is. People don’t spend every waking hour of the day coming up with ways to demonize 0.6 percent of the population. It’s not worth the time or effort. No, they do that to subjugate 50 percent of the population. As for the idiot federal judge who upheld the school board, he has no business being a judge. This is so plainly unconstitutional that it’s not even debatable.

Expecting impartial justice in red states is quickly becoming a pipe dream for trans folks. As for Matt Walsh... if you've never heard him do yourself a favor and don't listen to him now. He's a talking pile of sub-human excrement. Thanks, Erin, for the great reporting and for sticking up for those without a voice.

Visibility in our community is so important in this time with an onslaught of hate targeting us by politicians across all of the GOP states, including just a few miles east of where I live

No matter what they pass or rule we will still stand together as a community bound even stronger than before. There is no option but to become activists for change and continue to support each other. Remember that pride started as a protest against police brutality and the anti-LGBTQ laws at the time. Never forget that at the Stonewall Inn, it was a bunch of kick-ass transgender women fighting for their rights then; we have to do the same now!

I faintly remember 1969 but know our history at Stonewall Inn bring educated in NYC suburbs we were taught it. The fascists would like to remove that history too.

Those adults attending graduations for friends and your kids, select clothing in opposition to this ruling for students to show the students visibility - wear a trans necklace or earrings or tie so you will be seen. Normal visibility. Do so if you can buy remain safe. 🏳️‍⚧️⚧️

It makes me sick to my stomach that schools still have dress codes at all. Let children have the freedom to wear what they want. There shouldn’t be separate rules for boys and girls.

High school graduation is a rite of passage. The diploma is documentation that the work was done. The graduation ceremony is a celebration: a public acknowledgement with a handoff and a handshake. It is recognition of an individual achievement and as the students shift their tassels it is recognition of "look what we did together".

When I read about the transgender girl who was denied the walk across the stage I grieved for her. I did not know about the cis girl at the time but I grieve for her as well. They were robbed of what they earned and it is a sad thing.

The stated reason was that they violated the dress code. This is for clothing that would be hidden under a gown. (Wait. What? The boys were also wearing gowns? Does the legislature know about this?)

Could this possibly be a more thinly veiled lie? I think not. The victims in this culture war are kids. Consistent with the 'Bizarro World' titles of the laws they pass: 'Defense of Children Act' means 'Denial of Humanity Act' for transgender kids and their supportive families. Make no mistake about it. This cruelty is intentional. In a culture war you have to have targets. What greater pain can you inflict than to target children?

"Matt Walsh's video aims to convince viewers that transgender individuals are out to disrupt society and compel others to align with their desires."

I haven't watched the video. It's hard enough to listen to him on the radio; I can't watch him talk.

I do not believe Walsh, Knowles, Owens and others are honest brokers. They aren't interested in dialogue; they have made up their minds.

I do think that many trans people superficially assume that the hostility of these people is based simply on religious fascism. Rather, they have focused on the worst excesses of the trans activists and painted all of us with them. In addition, they have misframed the trans experience; and, in this, they have had help from our side. Alarmed, they turned to their religious roots in search of answers to the chaos they saw or imagined around them; and, now, they have painted themselves into a corner, where they can no longer consider information that doesn't square with what they already know.

When our issues reach the courts, there are issues we will win (freedom to transition, parental rights) and issues we will lose (sports, bathroom access; perhaps even the right to change our documents). I don't know how people like Walsh will handle this; will they focus on their losses and flip out? or will they focus on their wins and be reinvigorated for battle on the other issues? I think the latter, driven in particular by their loss regarding minors. But their voices will probably become increasingly shrill and marginalized. I think the majority of the cis public is going to look at the new rules and consider them a good balance of interests.

What worries me is that a contingent has been created that will feed on itself in the face of those losses and become increasingly unhinged. I don't know how to deal with that. I really don't.

So, this is my hypothesis about what's causing this wave of anti-trans. Porn and the extra beauty of people who are able to avoid original puberty. Since 2010 Pornhub reports rapid increase in trans-porn. Currently, a majority of the increase is coming from red states. Men are increasingly getting turned on. The religious ones go confess about it and are told it's sin. The pastors then raise this increase as a major issue. Politicians, who are 5 times more likely to be members of churches, are then told how this must be stopped, so they are taking the actions we are seeing.

I AM JUST SO SICK OF THESE PEOPLE. I understand that you need to cover all the hate because this is your beat. And we learn a lot from you but these ploys for attention from these sadistic weirdos online building a brand with their whining about things that have absolutely nothing to do with them is making me crazy. Nobody should pay attention to these grifters and weenies. On Twitter I have to unfollow people if they continually link to clips of them because this is their ploy and whenever we talk about them we amplify them --they say cruel things to create upset and then inflate their stature by these stunts. It’s an endless feedback loop because then some freaky administrator at a school--in this case, probably a racist as well as a transphobe--is watching all these dumb youtubers or Fox News or OAN or is qanon or what have you--and then they get activated by that and then they do something which requires a response and then the sniveling weasels all descend on the situation and use it to amp themselves up more. There’s no way we can ignore it but because their hope is to cause a reaction it’s just so annoying that not ignoring their stupidity simply pumps them up further.
