I heard an insight on gender this week that touches on what I think Cunningham and so many others are struggling to understand: "Your variation isn't a deviation from the norm; variation is the norm."
So, Cunningham wants to "spread love" and says she doesn't "hate trans", but she calls trans women "biological men" and doesn't even bother using the word trans as an adjective, making it sound more like a well-known slur for trans people.
Disingenuous, hypocritical coward. Just own up to your beliefs. Say them loud and proud. We'll respond from there.
Coach Reeves took a stand, and has my respect for it. Coach pointed out that the “hair on fire”🔥 national upset is unwarranted. I think we all agree with her.
Caitlin, when asked, gave (in my opinion) a proper answer: the sports authorities should deal with the question.
On that note, there appears to have been no such clutching of pearls on the men’s side of basketball, when players like Gheorghe Mureșan and Manute Bol, both standing at 7 feet 7 inches, played in the NBA.
Unfair advantage? Well, for the men’s game, I guess not! It’s just our ‘girls,’ these poor, second-class women athletes who need legal protection… unless, of course, it’s from sexual assault by a politician or their boyfriends/husbands.
I do not understand Cunningham’s beliefs or what they are based on, other than a pattern of bigotry, fear, and misinformation directed at the transgender community. Lies and stereotypes about trans people do not become facts simply because they are repeated.
I stand with the WMBPA executive director for defending diversity, inclusion, and the basic dignity that every person deserves. I also strongly commend Celeste Heaton for her courage and commitment in standing with the transgender community when it matters most and for Cheryl Reeve for wearing a T-shirt supporting the trans community.
The overwhelming support from transgender people and their allies for the WMBPA sends a clear message: discrimination will not go unchallenged. Communities built on respect and equality will continue to stand together against hate, misinformation, and attempts to erase people’s rights and humanity.
This tragically accurate list, are the values of what ultimately became of the Republican Party, it’s politics and policies. They should not be confused with American values that literally stand for individual liberty, and equal justice for all people. Equality doesn’t mean we are each the same: because every individual is different. Therefore each should be treated the same. Playing under the same rules, cooking in the same kitchens and eating in the same dining rooms. This is a continuing endeavor.

This has nothing to do with trans women in women sports. Heritage foundation made it quite obvious their real target, eliminating Title IX. Women in sports affects their menstrual cycle and stops women from being baby factories. They want to bring the Handmaid’s Tale to reality. They don’t want women voting, getting a college education, or being in sports. They want Chrislam not Christianity. I think Afghanistan is their vision for women in this country. What’s next women can’t get driver’s license and need to be accompany by a man to go anywhere.
The issue of trans females in sports is nebulous, but it certainly isn't all against them participating - individual leagues and competitions can come to their own conclusions about it. Flatly denying trans females' participation in any and every sport, and their existence itself, is transphobic.
I could be off my rocker or stating the obvious, but why do cis white people think they have any concept of what it means to be a part of a marginalized group or have any concept of how our lives need to be lived. Oh, wait. Not off my rocker. Totally stating the obvious. I wish it was obvious to everyone.

That Sophie Cunningham shares poses with Riley Gaines sort of says it all. Both women will soon be appearing on Republican ballots in elections coming to your neighborhood. Mark my words. The only thing they lack is an endorsement from the orange man, and the MAGA base will turn out in droves. Funny how the search for fairness seems to always end in the exclusion of some minority.
I was at the game and the Lynx fans were sending overwhelming support for trans people. Any chance the camera crew had to put positive trans messaging on the jumbo tron, they did. It was amazing.
Cunningham definitely has the minority opinion in the league, and I love seeing the backlash she’s getting. As our most recent Team USA coach and the winningest coach in the league, Reeve is a real one and such a great representative for the WNBA community.
