The Southern Poverty Law Center has dubbed the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine an anti-LGBTQ hate group for its role in proliferating pseudoscience and transphobic policies.
I love how everyone is chiming in on this. I'm in Olympia and I want to help, too. I wonder if we could draft a letter/script for writing/calling. May be good to shower them with feelings of how much we love and support our trans kids/community, how we witness the blossoming when one becomes themself in a loving, caring, and informed community. I'm truly sickened by this news and I'm hopeful we can join forces and make an impact!
Doctor here. This is outrageous and WSUs attempts to justify it are utterly bad faith. You don't allow CME credit for anti-vax or anti- germ theory cranks but to allow this shows their ignorance and contempt for trans people. This is another step in the right's long game to erase trans people and medical providers need to be leading the pushback.
Thank you for this reporting. As a healthcare professional in WA, I submitted a formal complaint via the form linked in the article. (If anyone would like to have a copy of what I sent, let me know! I wouldn’t advise sending the exact same thing but if people want to use it as a starting point for sending complaints, I’m happy to share)
I've jettisoned my attempts to be "bipartisan", people who are on the right and vote for those on the right are almost always enemies, there are rare exceptions, but they tend to be ostracized for their open-mindedness. I have no regard for Satanic people, including the "churchgoers" who are racist, homophobic, transphobic, religiously bigoted, etc. We're at war.
So many awful actions coming from health and academia! I see some comments here that people are planning to write letters etc. Would it be possible to have a link to a sample letter/email/script for articles reporting unethical actions with a clear target and ask? Or a sentence saying what groups or coalitions are taking action against the abuse with the group or coalition('s action) linked? I think many of us would like to take action when we see these reports, but we don't always have experience writing letters or a lot of time.
Just another university making a very bad decision. Promoting far right propaganda and false science. It is just discusting and makes me sick. I just don’t understand the logic behind this.
Thank you for bringing this to light Erin. I live in Spokane and am going to take action on this
Excellent! I'm in Pullman and lead an advocacy group. We might need to pool resources.
Im also in Spokane and would be happy to help.
Dr Coons, I look forward to fighting this with you. Feel free to DM me regarding this. We have several mutual friends :)

Thanks, all! I lived in Spokane in the 90s, am now in SoCal. Let me know if I can help from afar.
Thank you for including a link to the complaint submission so we can take action on this.
If regular medical transphobia wasn't enough it can now be taught for professionals to keep their lisence what the hell
I'm in Pullman (home of WSU) and a local human rights advocate. We are so on it!
As controversy-phobic as the uni is, there is no way they will let this stand once we make noise. I hope.
Thank you for the alert.

Oh, help us draft al letter or a script! Let's flood them!
That is bizarre and inexcusable.

Ashamed of my alma mater. Certainly won’t be donating any money to them going forward.
Let them know that! They take alumni donations seriously

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. As a WSU retiree, I am horrified. I will let the university know my feelings about this.
Disgusting. Simply, utterly disgusting.
We did it! They have suspended use of the CME in question and everything has been sent to the ACCME to investigate.
FYI
Filed a complaint with ACCME online complaint form on Oct 30
Today 10/31 Received a letter that they are going to proceed with a formal inquiry and also sent me a copy of their inquiry policy.
The letter said that they would let me know when it was resolved but not what the resolution was.
I can provide copies of these documents along with my complaint (I did post the complaint on bluesky)

Thank you, S. Baum, for this nes story, even it it is disheartening to hear.
