Stella Maris — a self-described "bi, poly, switch, femme, dyke witch," 65, who runs the Oregon nonprofit Queer Magic and assembles welcome bags — knitted hats, transit cards, city maps, small gifts from local queer artists — for trans newcomers fleeing hostile states for Portland. "We're meeting our own community's spiritual needs from a mutual aid ethos," she says — everyone with something to give, and something to receive.
I wrote about Moulton almost a year ago, with careful notice and analysis of his words. It doesn't appear he has changed, or that he should be trusted. I've never heard anything negative about Ed Markey. I hope the voters of Massachusetts have noticed.
Markey shows up again and again for members of MA's LGBTQAI+ community. Moutlon has a long way to go to demonstrate that he possesses the same respect for the state's most vulnerable..
He got run over by trans people just like he said he was afraid of happening to his kid. Moderation works both ways, democrats! How shameful to make those comments and then show up asking for our support!
“Moderation” is what some democrats like Moulton are using to describe abandoning us and compromising our rights in a heartless gamble they wrongly think will make them more electable.
You know what’s crazy, instead of blaming trans people, just listen to what your constituents want. Thats how you win elections. Stop pandering to what you think the msm wants to hear.
Dems keep chasing independent and Republican voters in a misguided attempt to win elections by swinging people who in recent history have just not voted for them, while ignoring their base and pretending we'll all show up at the polls 100% instead of an apathetic 47%. And my friends, that apathy was EARNED by Dems.
Continuing to repeat the strategic and tactical failures of the past, as Democrats have continued to do since 2010, but while expecting different results, is a form of willful self-delusion and irreconcilable cognitive dissonance.
We must support democratic socialists and progressives within Dem branding because at least they include us queers and they still WANT to fight!
As a Massachusetts resident, I’m glad he got confronted, especially if he thinks this is just some “stunt.” Senator Markey is a far more progressive and reliable ally—and I’m very proud of how _he_ represents me in the Commonwealth.
This is not the only issue on which Markey stands head and shoulders above Moulton… but it would be enough on its own if it were.
You don’t resist fascism by surrendering vulnerable people in the name of political expediency.
I'm not voting for any Democrat who isn't an explicit, proactive, and vocal Trans ally. I've given Dems my vote for decades and they continue to fecklessly lose elections and blame it on queer people like me. They have cued us up for eradication and extermination by the GOPMAGA pestilence and they are ignoring the genocide against our Black and immigrant siblings, too.
No more.
If WE don't hold Democrats accountable, if WE don't force Dems to positive and tangible ACTION in order to at least differentiate them from the GOPMAGA henchcucks of the pedobillionaire class, then NO ONE WILL.
They will have to earn my vote. This includes our Dem US House rep, Nikki Budzinski, IL-13 who has ignored Trans people and soft-pedaled LGBTQ+ representation. I'll leave that god-damned oval on the ballot blank, and I've written multiple times to tell her so with no response.
The thing is, he didn't just double- or triple-down--he quadrupled-down (if that's even a thing): in January of 2025 he sent campaign fundraising figures (before releasing them to the FEC) and sat down for a sympathetic interview with the Boston Globe OpEd page's chief transphobe, in which he essentially said "my trans-skeptical comments got me a whole bunch of donations, sorry-not-sorry".
Not shocking
Meanwhile in Portland

Thanks for the news story, S. Baum.
simply put - He got what he deserved
Fuck Moulin. Nuff said.
He got run over by trans people just like he said he was afraid of happening to his kid. Moderation works both ways, democrats! How shameful to make those comments and then show up asking for our support!
What does moderation mean, exactly, when we’re talking about compromising human rights?
“Moderation” is what some democrats like Moulton are using to describe abandoning us and compromising our rights in a heartless gamble they wrongly think will make them more electable.
I hope Markey wins the primary. No democrat who uses our gay and transgender children as an excuse for their failures should be in office.

That's what the consultants tell them to do, they don't understand that people see you throwing people under the bus and think they're next
Just contributed to Markey
That is nice to read. There's primaries every two years. Thank you Baum!

Fuck Moulton. Why on earth would we elect Dems who are as transphobic as Republinazi GOPMAGAs?
