I actually consider you stories about getting married to be a victory for trans people in 2024. Your and Zoey's freaking joy was infectious. As odd as it sounds, it made things feel not so dire some how. Atleast for me anyways, but I am also weird.

I agree! I think amazing people finding their person, even in this horrible time, is a huge victory. These bright spots of joy are the fuel we need to keep going.

In case anyone else is wondering 😅: to enjoin is the verb form of "injunction". When a court enjoins a law, they are prohibiting it from being carried out.

Wow I didn’t know how much I needed this review of positives! Thanks so much, Erin!

Don't forget that here in Nebraska, Kathleen Kauth's K-12 trans sports and bathroom ban was defeated, despite a Democrat switching parties that gave Republicans a supermajority, when TWO Republican legislators voted against it!

I love this list but would like to point out that Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is no friend of transgender people. My wife and I are constituents and are deeply disappointed that she votes red when it benefits her. She voted to pass the NDAA twice despite the anti-transgender measures in them and when asked why she provides an anodyne non-response. She is a DINO but the alternative was much worse.

oh thanks will remove her

Erin, Thank you so VERY much for providing us with this list of positives. We need to remember that in spite of the many bad things that happen, we are still making progress (albeit slowly). I was absolutely thrilled to see the mention of your helping to sell 10,000 girl scout cookies to trans girl scouts. Please, please be sure to provide us a list of those selling cookies in 2025.

Thanks so much Erin! Hearing the difficulties is very important and I think it's great you also took the time to highlight these wins. It is too easy right now to feel overwhelmed and feel like it's just inevitable that we're going to get crushed.

This is a LONG list of wins and I think it really shows this battle is NOT lost.

So great to end the year with this context. It's like ballast in a boat that often feels about to capsize the rough seas we face. Thank you.

To me this is much more than a recital of encouragement in times of trouble; it shows, precisely because of the other side of it, that our battle is fully "engaged". The parallels with major civil rights battles such as those of Blacks (or "people of the Global Majority" as some prefer) are instructive. It's far from an overnight process (and of course is far from over for those groups as well). I think we can take heart from that. We're in it for the long haul, and we shall indeed overcome.

Every day we are in increasing solidarity with major civil rights battles. This is about America's caste system. The more we talk about caste and stop dividing groups and lock arms, the more we find we are a HUGE and POWERFUL force! We can be indivisible! You are LOVED.

Needed to see some wins today, for sure.

Two things:

1. You forgot that NY State passed the Equal Rights Amendment to its state constitution, giving a state-level guarantee to freedom for trans people in the state.

2. Re: Bluesky being an alternative to Twitter, Erin, I was on Bluesky since 2023! I should know that!

Thanks for this! I really admire your optimism and ability to look at the positives, Erin!
