Besides being cruel, this bathroom legislation - and others like it - is just mind-numbingly stupid. Very poorly thought out. This is what happens when cruelty becomes the point. Practicalities be damned, they don’t matter anymore. Don’t legislators in red states have enough real problems to occupy their time, instead of such manufactured “crises”?

Indeed they do, in SC, Dominion Energy and Santee Cooper Energy want to merge to build a gas powered electricity plant near Walterboro, SC. The kicker is they want SC to pay for the building of it and guarantee them a 10% profit, like they did with VC Summer's failed nuclear reactor site which SC citizens are paying for with another 15 years in the contract guaranteeing them a 9.9% profit. Uh, come on SC, this is way more important than trying to decide who can and can not use the ladies room.

I love that there is an army of people ready to respond and defend freedom, like meme minutemen! Liberty and justice for all!

This only proves that the more they try to discriminate against Trans people, the more they look like morons. Exactly when do they get the message?

The Utah legislature took no responsibility for either the mess of trying to enforce a ban or for what the bathroom ban would even look like in public schools. A week or so ago, SLC school district sent out and then very quickly retracted a notice on how the ban would be implemented for their students. The legislature gave no guidance to the districts.

Also, Senator/Dr. Jen Plumb ROCKS!

We took particular pleasure from spamming this snitch line in the Ex-Mormon Trans Women Discord!

I would send in the meme of Paul Hogan crotch grabbing that drag queen in a bar in New York City, NY from the movie "Crocodile Dundee." "Just making sure" (LOL).

So, with the new law passed in Mississippi allowing cis people to sue trans people, can we get a bunch of cis people filing lawsuits against other cis people and clog up their courts?

Expand full comment

That might require hundreds of CD’s, who are actually cis people, coming out and suing other cis people. That will never happen.

So glad they're looking like incompetent clowns trying to implement stupid shit like this. I knew they wanted to deputize a bunch of cis people, but whoever clogged that system was brilliant! BRAVO

So sorry, Mr. Dougall... it is indeed unfortunate that you've found yourself at the business end of your state legislature's misconduct; equally unfortunate that you've been tasked with enforcing it (more unfortunate for the people you've been tasked with enforcing it 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵- but I digress).

Might I inquire who you voted for, last election? Not making any accusations, mind you. I don't know what your political opinions are. For all I know, you voted for a Democrat. But you are a part of this process, too- and there's something you can do to affect it, if your current predicament troubles you: 𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘦. If your state legislator supported this law, then 𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘰𝘶𝘵.

Hop to it! Tell all your family and friends! Show us that your concern is for more than just your own inconvenience. Take your scathing opinions to the polls next election (and not just at the state level, but the federal and local, too!), and send the malevolent bastards home to think about what they've done.

I just can't get over how short sighted and slap dash this type of legislation is thrown together without any thought for the ramifications for other agencies or enforcement. It may be found unconstitutional and get reversed in the long run but in the meantime we have to play legal whack-a-mole with these laws that come out faster than they can be challenged.

Maybe that’s kinda the point? They know that the majority of these bathroom bills are unconstitutional and will get kicked to the curb eventually. So, they don’t even consider how they’d be enforced. They push ‘em thru to make a point and to fire up their base. However, the funny thing is, I think most conservative voters are not/have never been concerned about trans folks in bathrooms. I am really really praying that this idiotic political theater majestically backfires for them in November…
