What's truly heart breaking for me is how we find ourselves as refugees. Fleeing hostile states that have loved and fostered us up to this point. So much has gone wrong and we're not even the cause. We're not even the biggest "problem" out there. We're just 'the easiest target'. We are not shrinking violets. We will be heard. For those of us fleeing they who remain must make ourselves heard. Loud and Proud.

I would add New Jersey to this list.

Thank you for this! I’m trying to escape Ohio in the next few years.

Wow, Oregon not even in the honorable mentions? I’m not feeling snubbed here; I just thought this was a great place to be trans and it’s a relief to see that there are so many places that are arguably better!

Malapropism alert:

Please strike "With no further adieu," replace with "With no further ado."

(Gotta watch those automatic spell-checkers—especially with homophones.)

Bringing up vocal feminization surgery piqued my interest. From everything I've ever heard, that surgery is discouraged because it's simply not very good and has high risk of complications.

Is that not the case? It might be good for you to do a deep dive into vocal surgery on a future post, because I'm guessing a lot of people are like me and are eschewing it due to thinking it's not a wise option.

Dependent on the person. Some have had very good results! I have not had it.

Delaware will remove your gender marker when you get id to match your birth certificate even with medical letters. You need a special form from a doctor after you get your dead gender marker back.

I disagree. Colorado is the home of Lauren Boebert and recently had a shooting at an LGBTQ club. Rural Colorado is much more dangerous than Eastern Washington. Eastern Washington also has a doctor that performs bottom surgery. Less white supremacist activity in Washington too

Eastern Washington honestly scares me. Sure, Dr. Stiller is there, but the vibe I get there vs. Western WA is very scary. I think a lot has to do with its proximity to Idaho. Loren Culp, the failed gubernatorial candidate, hails from Eastern WA as does the crazy faction that wants to found a Christian war state called 'Liberty'...to arm white men against gays, trans people...anyone who doesn't conform to their beliefs. (I should note that Loren Culp, on his official candidate website, said the following: 'I voted against gun control, because if only Rosa Parks had a gun, she wouldn't have ended up in jail...')

I get that but rural Colorado? Club Q shooting, Unicorn Ranch siege, Lauren Boebert? The haters seem more active in Colorado. Eastern Washington has crazies but so does Colorado. Colorado is literally surrounded by more red states

Oh I'm not saying that Eastern WA is WORSE than Colorado. But it certainly doesn't feel very welcoming either.

I get that. I’ve never had any issue in Eastern Washington and I had bottom surgery there so I will defend Spokane. But rural areas always a mixed bag. Honestly, just see how an area voted.

I have friends who went to Dr. Stiller, and that's who I'm going to (consult in October) so I totally get that. But I spent a weekend in Spokane a few years back, before I came out as trans, and didn't quite get good vibes from the city.

I thought Connecticut and Oregon were supposed to be good. I’m confused. Anyway my spouse just got a new job in Oregon and we are currently in California. Ugh. Any thoughts on Oregon?

Connecticut is good and Oregon is good, neither is top 5 but both are totally fine to live in as trans people!

Also, Oregon does the same as Washington when it comes to BC and ID.
