So West Texas A&M is now a Christian private institution? Oh no, it's public....get rid of that jackass! Take your sky daddy elsewhere. I'm a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. My college age child is trans, and in Missouri, and I worry. This just makes me sick!

Have it anyway, make the police shut it down. Obstruct and object the entire time.

The only way to fight this fascism is to get our hands dirty. And the police attacking students over a drag show will make the public stand up.

It's obvious that this kind of nonsense is only going to get resolved in the Supreme Court. That does not fill me with a warm fuzzy feeling however.

All I need to hear is "Matt Kascmaryk ruled" and I know it's going to be terrible news. He is a frothing reactionary with absolutely no relationship with precedent OR facts. That's why all the crazies judge-shop in his single judge district.

This judge is so consistently out of line with the constitution and was very clearly installed precisely so the republicans can forum shop their pet issues. Why have there been no investigations into what ever bullshit handshaky deal this got to get into that position.?

Like he is openly corrupt and shows open contempt for anyone who is not towing the party line. How can someone like this be stopped? Judges are supposed to not be political.

This is the same judge that issued the mifepristone ruling earlier this year that, as I recall, was at least partially blocked by higher courts. So maybe we have some hope that something similar will occur this time? I don’t have a particularly optimistic outlook, though, with a 6-3 SCOTUS.

Drag bans are particularly noxious because, in addition to their assault on freedom of speech and expression, they could be used by extremists to criminalize the very existence of trans people. We’re still a long way from federal legislation in this direction, and perhaps the blue states would resist it anyway. But seeing the country go in the direction of fascism is deeply concerning. Do people never learn from history?

This is so upsetting. They truly do not care about misogyny. What a sick way to justify his ruling which is just entirely entrenched in oppression in a state where those with uteruses are completely without bodily autonomy.

So what about ballet where the male genitals are clearly visible through tights and all of the sexual gyrations?

Kasmyric is bad enough, but what *really* made me lose all hope was that the appeals court is in the fifth circuit. There’s a reason that court is called the “fifth circus”: they make judgments not on sound legal principles, but if “their side” is doing the deed. Just ask Mike Masnick, who coined the phrase “Streisand Effect” and who approvingly cited your work in noting that Marsha Blackburn wanted KOSA to censor trans kids (The link, to be clear, is about the Fifth Circuit’s selective legal principles, or rather, how its principles are rather who’s doing what rather than the what is): https://www.techdirt.com/2023/09/20/last-week-5th-circuit-said-govt-cant-pressure-websites-this-week-it-says-govt-mandated-health-messages-are-perfectly-fine/
