They just couldn't fucking resist, could they?

BasicallyGir's avatar

Of course not, Republican politicians hate all women not just trans women

Brianna Amore's avatar

And Republicans have now inserted vile anti-trans laws into their SAVE America Voter Suppression Act because they have chosen US as their targets to demonize.

Freddie Baudat's avatar

They found a target that many prefer to remain silent on. So, as I see it, the folks who are silent chose us as Trump’s next target. Silence is a green light.

Remember Phylis Schlaffley? My mom gave me a t-shirt when I was in college in the 1980’s with Schlafley and a cave man, where Schlafley was banging her own head with a club.

H.R. 1329 is a blatant attempt to weaponize history, erase people, and turn a national museum into a political propaganda project — and Americans should be outraged.

A bill that was supposed to celebrate women’s history has been twisted into an instrument of exclusion and government control. Instead of trusting historians, scholars, and educators, politicians are now trying to dictate identity, censor recognition, and impose ideology on what should be an independent cultural institution.

This is not about protecting history — it is about controlling it.

By inserting politically motivated restrictions and empowering partisan oversight over the Smithsonian, H.R. 1329 sets a dangerous precedent: that Congress can decide which Americans deserve recognition and which stories are allowed to be told. That is censorship, plain and simple.

Women’s history cannot be legislated into a narrow definition by politicians seeking culture-war victories.

Museums exist to educate, challenge, and reflect reality — not to serve as government-approved narratives designed to exclude marginalized communities.

If Congress can rewrite history here, it can do it anywhere.

H.R. 1329 divides Americans, silences voices, and undermines the independence of one of our nation’s most trusted institutions.

This bill does not honor women — it weaponizes them for political gain.

Reject H.R. 1329. Protect historical truth. Defend inclusion. Keep politics out of our museums.

THIS BILL MUST BE DEFEATED. WE MUST RAISE HELL. WE MUST CONTACT OUR LAWMAKERS AND TELL THEM THIS CANNOT STAND

Love this exquisitely written and cogently argued comment. Thanks, Mike!

Make sure Mary Miller is recognized for her destructive contribution and perhaps have a special section that notes women who have thrown obstacles into the true picture of the female contribution such as hers. Her licking Trump's balls will be remembered!

I live in miller's district - she's desperate for anything that'll help in the general election this fall, since she's done precisely jack shit to actually help the district while in Washington. Hopefully it backfires.

Jaimie Hileman's avatar

Miller refuses to work with other Illinois reps in DC because she hates Democrats and democracy, rendering her incapable of sponsoring serious legislation and subsequently relegated to be no more than a Qanon minstrel, a knockoff of Boebart.

“If Republicans truly cared about women’s history” bwahahahahahahahahahaha

They have declared war on us on all fronts. They are relying on their "flood the zone" strategy to hope we get overwhelmed, to see what they can get away with, and to move the Overton window once policy at a time. BUT, they know that history, science, data, and reality don't actually support their position. So they are doing everything they can to erase those and control the narrative. They only win if they are able to successfully do that consistently. We have to fight back on the information/narrative front everywhere, protect rights at the state level, and push for federal protections when that becomes feasible.

I would NOT be in favor of erasing historical accounts of Republicans, should Democrats take back control of government. However, I would definitely be in favor of all exhibit photos having maximum dimensions of 3" x 5" and all text having a maximum font size of 6 points. And half of those dimensions for the history books.

And after this attempted genocide of trans people, we need our own damned museum on the Washington mall.

Joel W. Crump's avatar

I like this idea, there should be something to show respect and appreciation to trans people in history, and of today.

Dee E Dressler's avatar

Yes and we should put all Republican obstruction in big bold fonts so our children will know oppression when it rears its ugly head once again.

I'm really worried that these guys are going to take anything in a museum that's under their nominal control and throw out the parts they "disagree" with. So in a sense, funding any sort of museum right now seems like bad timing. Not that that makes this any less disgusting.

Judith Hofeditz's avatar

No words…maybe, disgusting?

Ellen Adele Harper's avatar

This is a demonstration of their trans and cis misogyny.

The more of this garbage they try to pull, the more devoted I become to my GF. Because they will have to suck on it, if they think there's something wrong with my relationship to her. I hope they are offended by it, even. Fuck 'em.

Jackie Batterson's avatar

I would rather not see a Women’s Museum at this time than allow them to eliminate all trans women in its history.

!! though somewhat less intelligent. And they would be awful bacon.

Here is a new law that the next sane President can pass. The Protect the Safety of Women, Children, Disabled and Transgender People Law. Requiring that all businesses, including Government agencies, schools (both private and public), sporting and entertainment venues, Anywhere multi use restrooms are required, must also provide single use bathrooms for the Disabled, Straight, LGBTQI, children alone or with a parent or guardian. Many grocery stores, pharmacies, movie theaters, etc. have such single use restrooms. It would be rather difficult to close these single use restrooms all over the country just to punish Transgender folks. This law would protect all individuals. Especially, children and women. All hospitals provide single use restrooms. Why are the vulnerable forced to use public restrooms? Also, how can MAGA vote against a bill that will protect children, women and the disabled, while protecting all people's rights to privacy and safety? I have suffered my entire life with a physical and mental issue called "Shy Bladder Syndrome". This can cause Bladder and Kidney damage to people afflicted by this syndrome, who are unable to use the restroom in the presence of others. Sorry Kegsbreath, SOME people don't have to prove they are macho by whipping out their penis and peeing together with strangers? That seems more like homoerotica issues! I have been in really scary public restrooms. Like at a mall late at night. Just banning transgender people from using public restrooms does diddly to protect ANYONE in public. Single use restrooms could be located in areas with security cams that monitor for suspicious people, like Matt Gatze, Epstein, a group of ICE terrorists, or, that guy wearing orange makeup with cankles, bruised skin, you get the idea. Seriously, though. This is a law that will solve all the restrooms issues that MAHA and MAGA can create

Dee E Dressler's avatar

As someone who found a second career in providing day services for folk with disabilities, you are absolutely correct about the need for an alternative to multi use restrooms.
