And this is definitely a constitutionally protected inherent individual human right. That makes it a crime under one or more of these laws for someone to do, especially as state government policy. The people engineering, funding, and carrying out the propaganda campaign and enacting the laws and policies against transgender people must face 42 U.S.C. § 1983, 18 U.S.C. § 241, & 18 U.S.C. § 242 prosecution.
It should become a Dem party platform plank to carry out such investigation and prosecution.
And this is why you have to be careful about how much tolerance you extend to fascists, folks. We could have - and should have shut down these creeps a decade ago, but too many centrists and liberals wrung their hands and told us it would be censorship, that surely even these wannabe-Nazis had the right to disseminate their ideas... meanwhile they panicked because some college professor somewhere got written up for intentionally misgendering a student... well, look what happens the MOMENT they have a grasp on power.
Apparently we're only allowed to fight back once they've demonstrated their obvious wickedness by destroying us, at which point we will be unable to fight back effectively...
We have to draw the line somewhere. I suggest we not tolerate those who would not tolerate us.
Pensacola State College recent blocking articles of LGBTQ+ content in its student newsletter under the so-called “WOKE Act”—which has already been ruled illegal—is not about education, it’s about censorship.
This is another attempt to silence viewpoints that don’t align with what DeSantis wants or that school officials approve of.
Students deserve the right to express themselves, and readers deserve access to diverse perspectives.
Shutting that down is an injustice to everyone involved and a violation of free speech.
I am not surprised that this is occurring in Florida. Oh how I wish some of these politicians in that state would lose their seats in the next election.
General Studies Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs is a hilariously long title for a low level administrator at a podunk community college in the busted FL panhandle. I think her flashy title and “prestigious” position may be getting to her head.
Good on those students for standing up to censorship.
The university administration should be ashamed, enforcing legislation that is not even law. You have to wonder if it is simply an excuse to reinforce their own bigoted views.
When one deeply researches how the NAZI's were able to do what they did (in terms of excluding the Jews from all public places), it turns out that there is a simple reason it worked for them: The average German citizen sympathized with their causes. I would argue that a college Vice-President (with the acquiescence of a journalism professor) would certainly count, at least, as average citizens. It always starts with small steps. It's a college paper. Then it's local newspapers. Then it's books. Then, it's exclusion from normal daily activities, etc. The despotism our founders warned us about is nearly upon us. This is why they want to restrict our 2nd Amendment rights. Remember, it wasn't until the Warsaw ghetto armed itself and fought back, that the NAZI's developed any respect for them as fighters. Just one girl's thoughts at this time.
This is apparently a government of the fascists, by the fascists, and for the fascists.

Well said Evelyn, the paradox of tolerance really needs to be a mandatory topic covered in K-12.

WTF is *wrong* with these people??
What is common to the worst of them, is they are religious fanatics.
Like the people discussed here (discussed by a political opponent):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpMCp6RSSKw
TW, it is disturbing people like that are numerous enough to matter.
Hope they find the gates to heaven locked. They are frauds.
Where they are not insane or imbeciles, then they are certainly deliberate frauds.
For some, it is matter of "and" . . .
Oh, Northwest Florida being Florida. Beautiful beaches, and kind but brainwashed people.
Good on those students for standing up to censorship.

So much for abridging freedom of the press...
I wish those students well, and hope that they are successful in their campaign for visibility.
And for their standing up and being counted, for their stance and for representing a minority group - our tribe.
