Anti-trans ads might not politically benefit Republicans, but anything that feeds this moral panic certainly doesn't make me feel safer.

Alway always always it's the shit establishment older Dems that have cold feet on this shit and have shit messaging. (It's why the messaging was good early on with Harris' campaign, but seems to be the bog standard and boring now, you likely had newer younger people running shit, before the establishment took over)

I agree with your assessment here, Cynbel! Never underestimate the ability and likelihood of establishment Democrats effing up and losing an election. Their track record at this point on cluelessness and losing by miscalculating where the electorate is at should have lost them their jobs long ago. Instead, it seems they’ll remain in power until they die. Which is a depressing and infuriating situation.

The old guard Dems have not kept pace with rapidly developing changes to our culture and the political landscape.

I really wish the Democrats would spend some time on it to actually counter the republican BS on this issue. All they seem to be willing to do is vote against it, instead of you know proposing legislation specificly enshrining trans rights into law.

It's really concerning how low climate change is on the bipartisan list. Honestly the most worrisome thing in this dataset.

You would think that two back to back destructive hurricanes would shake people out of their stupor.

Obviously the ads feel terrible, but it does make me feel better knowing that it isn’t working for them. If we can weather THIS level of anti-trans big $$$ propaganda without completely losing public support, then maybe people will lose their appetite for anti-trans policies. We’ve already given so much ground on our human rights though ☹️

To avoid peaking to soon, Kamala must do something -- I don't know what -- but the key swing states are slipping out of Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, and PA. Only Wisconsin seems fairly OK as of this morning.

As Cynbel suggests above and I agree with, kick out establishment Democratic campaign strategists now! Bring in younger and more clued in people to replace them!

Erin, thank you so much for spreading the word regarding this polling data.

I know it won't stop the Republicans from continuing to use transgender kids (and adults) as punching bags...but your continued analysis of how it is TRULY not an issue that voters are focused on, and how it is actually a losing argument for the Fascist Right to keep harping on it, is an extremely important message that will (hopefully) help alleviate some of the pain and fear a lot of trans kids are facing as they keep seeing these cruel and hateful political ads.

Your reporting is truly helping save lives out there, ma'am. Thank you so much for all that you do...

More and more we are seeing the fact that Americans are largely sick of the hate, lies, bigotry, and division that the GOP represents. And demagoguing against the trans community has never worked for them in the past and there is no evidence that they will work for them again in 2024. Americans realize we have much larger issues to contend with than the fact that trans people exist.

I'm Canadian and if there is something I'm not understanding please educate me. My understanding is that the November election is just for president.

If the Harris campaign were to express support for the trans community what voters would vote for her that wouldn't otherwise? What voters would she lose if she were to express support for the transgender community that would have voted for her otherwise?

It's not just for the President. Every House of Representatives member is also up for election (every 2 years) as are many Senators (every 6 years). Plus there are tons of local elections and tons of ballot proposals to vote on. This is what is known as "downballot races" and they happen every 4 years in this country.

Dual Canadian/US citizen here. American politics are weird and convoluted for a reason!

There's also an anti-trans ad where they cut and paste something VP Kamala Harris said about allowing prisoners to change their gender and it infuriates me. It goes on 24 hours a day; not during football games. They even paid Samsung to put the ads on anybody with one of their TV's; I have 3. I know they did a cut/paste because VP Harris' statement was chopped into her saying 'the trans in me'. Who says that if they aren't trans?

I'm so sick of seeing them that I sent a nasty email to a trans organization here and told them not to send me anything asking for donations if they don't take that crap off the air. UGH

Seriously, the so called experts who they put out there to tell candidates what they should be concerned about generally to my way of thinking pretty much miss the mark.

Imagine how much gender affirming care could be bought with the 100 million those monsters spent on harming us!

You would think that being ranked as less concerning by the public, would make passing legislation like the Equality Bill would not ranker anyone but a few like Trump. It should be an easy victory for Harris when elected, you would think. Had we passed an inclusive ENDA almost 25 years ago, trans issues would not even be considered today, when the only people who care about Trans rights and equality, would be Trans people.

Think about that! If Biden had passed the Equality Act 4 years ago, Harris would not be fighting it right now as an issue.

I hope that President Harris makes it a priority issue, rather than have to fight four more years for our equality.

Biden never had the votes to pass it. The senate is/was razor thin and not enough Dems were willing to remove the filibuster.

And let's be honest, republican men don't want equality. DEI is their second favorite punching bag after trans people.

The ads may or may not be effective for the election, but I have no doubt that they contribute to a decline in mental health for the transgender community- essentially all this money is being spent on bullying
