Senator Mike Moon defended child marriage the same night in which a gender affirming care ban passed the Missouri House. Senator Moon has sponsored several anti-trans bills.
I have always assumed that sharing personal stories is an effective way for politicians to advocate for trans rights. Appealing to people's emotions is of course effective, but this video is somewhat eye opening as to the limits of this. This man apparently knows a 12-year-old marriage victim who is "still married" and I guess the implication is that they are loving life in this long marriage. Knowing this personal anecdote alone is almost more appalling because this isn't even an abstract situation for him. He apparently knows multiple 12-year-olds who have gotten married and is supportive based on his experience. Just something that struck me that it is probably crucial that statistics/facts are used immediately along with personal stories when communicating.
Unfortunately many transgender families have connected with Republican lawmakers, and when it came down to it they STILL voted against them.
In Texas a family invited the Attorney General to their homo for dinner, and he showed up with his wife. A couple of years later he directed CPS to investigate ALL affirming families with transgender children.
Google Amber & Adam Briggle; they have fought these bills tirelessly for YEARS now. They are a loving and affirming family, and are still fighting even after being investigated. Courage doesn’t even begin to describe them.
The actual and literal grooming of children, mostly girls is totally fine to these people. But please, do go on about how LGBTQ people are “grooming” kids.
Not surprised at the least. I honestly think that these lawmakers are addicted to transgender porn and are afraid what will happen if transgender kids grow up to be indistinguishable from cis folks.... because what will get them off then?
JFC I can’t even
Same.

Is all projection.
Everything they do.
That’s why trump fit so well into their fold; he’s the king of projection. A match made in Hell.
