Francis Howell School District in Missouri held a hearing on a policy that would ban trans students from bathrooms of their gender identity as well as litter boxes, despite those boxes being a hoax.
Amy Easterling here. I was so pleasantly surprised to open my favorite blog and see ME in your cover! :) Actually, I may have burst into tears. As the parent of a transgender child, the information you provide is invaluable. Thank you so much for sharing our fight in the Francis Howell School district.
I’m a facilitator for the PFLAG NYC Trans Families Project. It breaks my heart to see parents having to fight these things. Or, worse, be forced to relocate. I have two adult children myself that just happen to be cis normative.
Here's a thought you seem to be overlooking: if it were legal to use only urinals and toilets to dispose of waste, what of any student who is incontinent?
Just wanted to update. Our school board has dropped the bathroom policy from this month's meeting. They are saying it "may" come back for vote at some point. I hope the negative media attention spooked them - so thank you for helping us get the word out!

These people are monsters. Why are they so obsessed with actively harming people?
All I have to say to this school district is FOR F*CK'S SAKE!
Seriously. What a WASTE of time.
I'm struck by the language that calls having to go to a separate bathroom a "privilege" 😣

I’m from Missouri, but I don’t feel safe to visit anymore. It’s getting pretty bad there.

Has anyone ever seen the movie Idiocracy?
