It happened again. Representative Chris Sander, a gay Republican, raised his hand to speak on a bill. Republicans instead chose to silence opposition and did not allow him to speak.
These people have made it clear that they hate him and everyone like him and Rep. Sanders is just now questioning being a Republican? I am not going to lie; I do not get this.
They hate. Period. Most don't even truly represent what their constituents want, and they don't care. Hate. And ignorance. Very dangerous with unchecked power :(

Disgusting miscarriage of 'government'... expect nothing less from that side of the aisle. The lack of humanity is loud. These states have super majorities... there's no balance - no equality under the law. It is incredulous, as it becomes clearer that many, on both sides, do not want these laws passed... we can only wonder if people will fight back with their votes in '24. I'd say hope --- but it's mind numbing how this happens in the first place, but history repeats itself, especially in dead-red states... from the local to the federal level.
I think a lot of these states banning free speech are the same ones that have a lot of Republican leaning gerrymandering. Representatives used to care what the public thought about issues, now they don't care because they have no incentive to care, they just push their right wing agenda and stifle any dissenting voices, be it opposing representatives or members of the community. I know here in NC right wing bills being passed don't have support in the community, and the Republican reps just don't care, because the gerrymandering is so effective some experts are saying we will have veto proof Republican majorities for many years.
I suspect Republicans in these statehouses have convinced themselves that HRT for minors is so evil that any means used to stop it are justified. Relatedly (but not the same issue), I think they frame HRT as an attempt to "change sex," which, from a medical perspective, is completely false.
So much of this was avoidable. So much pain, suffering and heartache, and all over misinformation and hysteria.

The rich and powerful always assume they are "one of the good ones" and, therefore, exempt from hate. But as we can see, that thinking is a farce.

"But... but they said I was one of the good ones! Who could have possibly seen this coming?!"
“The leopards weren’t supposed to eat *my* face!”

I have an idea what's going on here.

Ah, well. Now it's up to the courts.
"So much of this was avoidable. So much pain, suffering and heartache, and all over misinformation and hysteria"
The conservative mindset in a nutshell.
These fucking cowards. They know that their bullshit can't stand up to reasoned debate so the just duck the debate.
