This is great news and hopefully small providers working directly with trans kids will get the funds, and of course, we will be watching for more funding in the near future❤️🏳️⚧️
That is better news than before. Hope the Mayor will continue in this direction. It would help if Tish James would bring action against NYU and Mt Sinai for capitulating.
The need for huge health care systems to care for transgender people is not required for most of our care. Smaller, endocrinologist led clinics suit most of our needs, probably better than so many systems that bent their knees to this regime. I loved a small clinic in West Virginia that I located via an online search. The endocrinologist was so kind, as was his staff. The doctor and staff also offered in house blood tests for hormonal levels. I miss them.
As a trans New Yorker, my birthday is tomorrow and this is the best birthday present a trans New Yorker could ever get from their mayor. Given the Knicks win, all the pride events I attended, and now Mamdani keeping a campaign promise of his vis-à-vis trans youth, this has been the best month I've ever had in my life!
However it finally happened, I'm grateful. It's about time we heard some good news from NYC.
I've never lived in NYC. I now live abroad. However, if I need major medical care, which would be covered by my Medicare, I would be traveling to NYC to receive it. In a way, I have a vested interest in Mamdani delivering on his promises.
This news made cry tears of joy. This is fighting back!
Me too!!! And, is gives us energy to keep up the fight!
This is extraordinary! Good for him!

When we fight we win! Grateful he is in the fight! 💙
I said to give him time to get settled in and this is great starting news.
A step in the right direction!! Thank you for the coverage!

Thank god we've gotten something, thank you for keeping the pressure up
I am very happy to hear it. I wonder how long this has been in the works? Was pressure required to effect this or was it internally generated?
Thank you Erin.

Other mayors need to follow suit.
