A Montana judge has blocked a gender affirming care ban for trans youth as unconstitutional, citing overwhelming medical evidence and violations of fundamental rights in the state constitution.
This is huge! What a year! This gives me hope. Thank you and your wonderful fiance for holding the line in these battles. I'm so proud to stand with you!
This is wonderful, and I cannot imagine the bravery and restraint it took to stand up and speak to this life saving medical care and be told to be 'civil' by the opposition. I wish less bravery was needed by trans people, but this creates new hope and I am so grateful for that.
This is great news, especially since the judge covered the medical aspects and specifically countered the stances taken by conservative appeals courts in the southern states. Admiration for Rep. Zooey Zephyr knows almost no bounds; she is so courageous and amazing!
My only fear is that this ruling will get overturned by higher courts. That is the strategy of anti-trans zealots - just keep appealing and appealing until they get the result they want.

How ironic and -- somehow fitting -- that the "right to try" bill for experimental treatments like the dubious ivertmectin, helped clear the pathway for this odious anti-trans youth medical care bill being overturned! Also, gratifying that religious arguments are not being taken seriously, since they are not evidence but sheer opinion. Let's hope this holds!

And also, if this is reversed in Montana Supreme Court using the same horrible logic as the Legislature that passed it, NonetheLess the shining logic and objective fairness of this ruling still shines forth for all Montanans, the entire Nation and all the world to see. Those Legislators who passed the law are revealed as hateful, frightened people willing to compromise truth and their responsibilities to Montana to press their harmful ideological agenda and any cost to the people of Montana.

Ok so I suppose that we should make efforts to get the provision from the montana constitution put in the national constitution. What kinds of pitfalls would there be to this?
The fact that transgender youth have to have their rights taken away in order to be able to get heard (in court) because Republicans are BLOCKING their voices of truth in the senate/house, and only promoting snake oil salesmen.... that is reason enough to scream!
