Excellent choice, twitter has become a toxic H holes full of Nazis and Incels. Ugg. What a way to completely ruin a important resource, good job Elon (sarcasm)
So glad you’re going to shift over! I’ve deleted my professional twitter account, and I’ve left my personal one up so I can still follow the few threads that are only on Twitter. There’s now one less reason for this ‘lurking’ twitter account.
I deleted my Twitter account as soon as Musk bought it, and never looked back. More recently, I've been using Threads, mostly because I also use Instagram, but the transphobic trolling has exploded there since the election. So I created a Bluesky account today. Hoping it ends up feeling at least somewhat safer.
I’m so glad. It has been really hard to follow anyone on Twitter for the past year or so. There is just too much hateful spam. I had to quit just for mental health.
I changed my password to "fuckyouelon" right before I deactivated my account. So the last thing I did on Twitter was to type that password and click "deactivate"
If everyone is staying simply because everyone else is there despite how terrible and destructive it is, then folks need to LEAVE to show/convince others it’s no longer the IT place to be. So thank you for taking this step and I sincerely hope others do the same and quickly. Musk must not benefit any longer from everyone’s FOMO.
Thank you Erin for this perspective. I've been ignoring my twitter account, posting occasionally about my substack posts but your writing has helped me realize that I need to delete that account and completely remove myself from that platform. I'll see you on BlueSky :)
The sooner Twitter finishes it's death throws and fades away into obscurity, the better for everybody.
I can't believe that anybody still posts there at all.

I just downloaded it yesterday and followed you. I'm so thankful for block lists.
Not only the block lists but the follow starter packs are super helpful. Follow a bunch of cool people in one click!
Oo, thanks, I'll need to check that out

Thanks for keeping us updated & recommending a *real* forum for intelligent conversation!
I have never used Twitter but just downloaded the BlueSky app to follow you. Keep doing what you are doing. We need you.
Good riddance to Muskrat and his festering fash-hole. Glad to hear that the move came with a big boost in readership, too!

Not one of us with LGBTQ+ loved ones should be on X. This man is personally responsible for so much hate.
Too true

It’s not you…it’s me….wait wait wait…yeah it’s actually you!
Thank you! I hope journalists continue the exodus. I am beyond annoyed when twitter posts get embedded in articles.

It's about time, most of us left when chief twit came into the picture.
