They gathered on a holiday dedicated to civil rights to pass a blatantly unconstitutional bill targeting LGBTQ+ people and banning books. They're spitting in our faces and the faces of every family in Idaho with a gay kid or a gay cousin or a gay friend.

Why is this their top priority? Why do they choose to spend their limited legislative time on this kind of hate?

Now ban heterosexual acts. Why? Because if it's "inappropriate" to expose kids to homosexuality, then heterosexuality is also.

Agree. The same standards should apply to heterosexuality as homosexuality.

Also let's get a round of applause for the "LGBTQ+ Conservatives" who pandered to the right in an attempt to get left alone by throwing us under the bus. Great job y'all. Truly disgusting. Now we are all being targeted.

It is a really sad commentary on the current state of affairs, when news of a book ban seems “not all that bad” compared to some of the horrific legislative proposals coming out of other states lately, like WV. Last year’s horrid legislation is merely routine now, just like this year’s horrid legislation will be the normal state of affairs next year. Why can’t political allies more strongly step up the fight for the human rights of trans people?

What we need are extremely loud allies. People who are only in the community as allies. Sadly most of our allies don't speak up, that don't walk with us. They can't support us from the sidelines anymore. What we need is another Stonewall.

We need more protests, more lobbying, more funding for the lobbying. Votes and small protests and pride events are not enough anymore. What we need is to put the pressure on in the opposite direction.

We exist, I don't care who dislikes it. We need to put our foot down, hard.

In Europe, kissing people is fairly common. Where you get kissed seems to depend on how strong, and how positive, the relationship. I feel kind of embarrassed by my fellow Americans...

I mean, I personally am glad that's not part of our "culture" over here, because it makes me uncomfortable when just anyone does it. I gotta be very close with someone to be ok with it.

How can these people support book bans and still think they're the good guys?

I'm okay with this. I also support a ban of all books about straight people - excuse me, just the ones that depict or refer to any heterosexual acts. /s

Censorship is dictatorship. They want to control kids. Kids can handle these materials, it's just stupid, and we will not accept this crap. If the courts allow states to do it, we're going to have to raise hell.
