The NYT has fallen down on climate change denial, antisemitism and transphobia. I've been considering cancelling for a while anyway. I just went ahead and did it... and used a small portion of that to subscribe to you. Thanks for your good work.

I begged. I'm continuing to beg them to reach out to you. Love you so much. And thank you constantly and amplify you to the extent anyone listens to this old, cis, "boomer/groomer" mom. ; )

I called and cancelled my subscription this morning--I have a non-binary child. I told the very nice lady I spoke to why I was cancelling, and asked her courteously to pass on to management that they were putting kids like mine in danger with their poor coverage and concurrent dismissal of criticism. She said she definitely would pass that along, and then offered me the editorial department's phone number so that I could also call them and let them know why I'd cancelled. I asked if this was something she thought I should do, and she said "well they've given us that number and suggested we pass it on, so yes!"

I did call. I got a VM, and did leave a message. If anyone else wants to call the number is 212-556-3652. Screw them. Seriously.

The Onion's fictional parodies often contain truths that the NY Times ignores.

The criticism of the New York Times in these letters outlined several specific, real world examples of the ways that their coverage is being weaponized by people who want to eliminate transgender rights and they respond to none of them. To question the New York Times about anything is an attack.

“OH I GUESS WE’RE NOT ALLOwED TO TALK AbOUT ThIS” they’ll crow as the very important pundit brigade congratulates themselves yet again, as another state strips their trans folks of essential medical care. We’re all supposed to be outraged that these crazy trans activists are censoring one most powerful newspapers in the world.

I’m fucking tired of this, y’all. Thanks for all the work you’re doing, Erin.

It’s”just asking questions” when they do it. It’s a woke mob when we push back. At all.

Ughhh yes I was so disappointed to see their coverage of trans issues. I unsubscribed after years of subscribing. So sad they are doubling down.

Erin, during a recent hearing in the Missouri senate, several legislators referred to "11 studies" that collectively point to "68 to 90%" of trans youth eventually dentransition or identify again with their sexual assignment ar birth. Of course, I keep asking for a list of these 11 studies and they never give them. Do you have any idea to which garbage studies they are referring?

They're a set of studies that relies on data from 1980-2010, during the DSM-IV, that counted tomboys as trans, among other things.

It is horribly flawed and out of date.

ER, I hope I'm not overstepping. For months I've been begging David Sirota, David Dayan, etc. at The American Prospect / The Lever (who broke open the story and got picked up by MSM re East Palestine, OH train derailment) to speak about media's role in pushing anti-trans rhetoric. Here's a start! https://prospect.org/podcasts/02-20-2023-trans-panic-new-york-times/?vgo_ee=2WnYvCKoLRZY%2FR6wXUT3LjpxdzkQNl9LgdxZ9pnzLRY%3D

This is why I don’t trust mainstream media. They may pretend to be left wing because they’re anti trump but that’s a facade. This is why I support Erin.
