“You’re attacking me” he said, to the child he is attacking.

Leaving does let them win. This isn't the first time we've had to fight for our rights. We protect us. They want us to leave. They want us to be scared. They want us to die. And goddamnit I wont give them what they want. I am going to keep fighting, keep fighting until they lose or staying any longer poses risk to me that outweighs the immense benefit to trans people everywhere by not giving them what they want.

Hang in there, everyone. We protect us.

Stories like this make me so mad, it happens over and over, yet the hearts of our politicians remain cold, bitter, and ignorant. Thanks for sharing as always Erin

The bigotry and hatred of the right-wing zealots toward trans people - including kids - is disgraceful. It almost defies description. Perhaps this is slightly off topic, but that is why recently introduced bills are attempting to legally erase trans people - even those with a history of SRS - by attempting to define sex in terms of gamete production. This is cruel, impractical, inaccurate, and scientifically indefensible, but they reason they’re doing it is because they desperately want to exclude trans people and this is a criterion they have found that, in their minds, seems to achieve this. These, and other right-wing actions, must be vigorously fought, using courts if necessary. Lives and livelihoods depend on it.

Next stop; require all trans kids to wear pink armbands at all times, so right wing senators will know for sure and hate them accordingly.

He's a typical Republican. He calls the attackie the attacker. It's all about twisting the truth with the GOP.

It's good to expose cowards and hypocrites, even if they don't change their wrong-headed notions. Just think how powerful the moment could have been if he replied, "I want you all kept safe regardless of gender". He had the chance to show love and real human compassion, instead he recoiled. What an opportunity missed to a cold-hearted political calculation.

😮‍💨 I read an article in the ink on messaging encouraging a move from "protect trans kids" ,which sets them apart and is easily co-opted by the right, to "respect trans kids" which is unifying as most folks want to be respected for who they are - similar to how,"love is love" built an expansive unifying message. You can see it in this example of a power struggle over protection. How about we put the focus on respecting Aleix and other trans kids when they tell us who they are? Thoughts? I value this online communities insights

They want us to be quiet. I intend to be the complete opposite, as much as it is possible for me to do so.

Don't feel pressured to stay somewhere if you don't feel safe. "leaving lets them win" may sound good but in reality this is a personal decision.

They're real slick here in GA, too. Can't send them emails directly. They have a team of people who probably delete messages they don't like. That goes for Dems as well.

Classic coward that Summers is. I'd like to throw a shoe at his head. Bastard says he's attacked when his existence attacks that little girl? Her existence insults him, or does it? People like Summers are devils in disguise.

Just noting (for reasons of making this story trend) his first name is spelled Carden. Everyone should see the photo of this coward, Carden Summers.
