Edit: A line in a previous version said only those against the bill were allowed to speak. This has been corrected to read only those in favor.

Sorry folks, quite under the weather today but I wanted to get this up and missed that line!

Shocking….. Yet again this is the Republican Party. Do not vote Republican! No matter how frustrated you are with Dems and Biden this is exactly what you will get if Republicans win. Think about a Republican House and Senate facing a bill like this. Also, good reminder just because someone is LGBTQ, doesn’t mean they’re an ally. We’re at war.

A message to gay Republicans: you're next in line. It won't stop with trans people, or immigrants, or whoever happens to be the disfavored minority of the moment. They'll eventually go after marriage equality, anti-discrimination laws, maybe even Lawrence v Texas. They will continue to hate you even if you support them.

The Log Cabin Repuglicons need to rethink their website. If they are only for LGB rights they need to make that clear. Because this sounds an awful lot like they don't understand who the community is that they claim to be advocating for. I swear to everything holy this is some serious nonsense! The fact that they only allowed ONE side to speak is gross. So much for WE the People.

Thanks for the coverage. I’m in that picture. It was not a happy moment listening to those folks call us groomers and ideologues, and observing, again, from the committee that they fix was in.

What power do they have to not allow people to speak?!!

They are dogmatic in their pursuit. So ignorant and determined that they won't even pretend to hear opposing beliefs.

I think you may have made a typo in the first paragraph. You wrote "only those against the bill were allowed to speak." Wouldn't that be the pro-trans people attending?

They seem to be trying to split, weaken, and divide the LGBTQ2S+ coalition, which those of us who are of a certain age will know was hard-fought to win over years of struggle. I understand there's no point in saying this to people who have no sense of shame, but still, "Shame on them!!!" There is no low to which the Republican Party will not stoop.

The LCR's and GAG's are self loathing queer people who refuse to admit the reality that they are next in line for GOP repression. They aren't only stupid, they are evil.

Democracy works well when you don't allow dissenters to speak.

It blows my mind that these gay Republicans can go out there and support a bill that hurts ALL LGBTQ+ people, themselves included, just to spite the trans and gain some sort of nonsensical political clout.

If you dance with the Reaper, you can't complain when you get clipped by the scythe. Clearly none of them read about Röhm in their history classes...

I’ve been saying that GLBQ will turn on T’s the same way they did on ENDA and DADT when it suits them. This is the result of HRC creating the roadmap for separating the trans people in ENDA. Now, the chickens have come back to roost, and the results will be Trans, then Lesbians, then Gay men (as usual the Bi’s become wallpaper again).

The big question now is, what does HRC say about all this? If it’s crickets, they will rue the day.

These geniuses should recall the 2020 presidential election in their state, which Biden, admittedly narrowly, won (famously, now, given that DJT is indicted by that state for trying to overturn the result). They may be able to railroad this through their committee, but they're asking for a fight, I guarantee. I've been to GA, I know it's a better place than this. Not to say it's perfect, but it's better than this, I promise you.

They are willing to destroy an entire demographic of our society for nothing more than some votes. A quote that comes to mind which is very befitting here comes from Lord Acton,

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
