Can I propose something? For those of us who go into doomsday mode easily, maybe a mini story near the end of each article, "Today's Cause for Hope"? Even if it's small, it could help.

For Q&A: Beyond voting the oppressors out, what is the most effective way to fight against the anti-trans legislations?

So happy for you both to have this time together. And thank you for the reminder of the importance of breaks and enjoying life. I needed it.

Erin, as a Parent of my Trans Daugther, how can "we" parents organize and advocate & possibly demonstrate against those folks and "states" with Anti-Trans Legislation/Laws and equally, how can we thank those states who support and affirm out kids? I envision rally's in all 50 states of parents of trans kids and Allies, both in support and in protest, of the actions of the state legislature, perhaps in the summer of 2024? Moving from anger to action > Thoughts/comments? Glen

For Q&A: What's going on with Texas and their attempt to ban gender affirming care for adults? What do you think will be happening?

For q&a : the Union Cycliste International, the international governing body of elite competitive cycling, banned trans women from participating on Friday. Transphobia has been on the rise both outside and within the women’s field. How do supporters and friends of trans folks have productive conversations with TERFS? The concepts of intersectional equality and the bio psycho social model for understanding what contributes to an athletes success regardless of gender identity are big and take a while to sink in, and that’s in the rare case that anti trans people are even listening. Transphobia is spreading. Empathetic understanding seems to be waning. How do we change that?

Love hearing about your trip and seeing you looking so happy! :) Question for Q&A: How alarmed are you by the Mississippi AG's letter objecting to federal privacy protections for out-of-state abortion & gender-affirming care? I'm in one of the 19 states with a co-signing AG, and this news really shook me. But I also don't have a good understanding of how soon, or how likely, we'd see any effects of a lawsuit coming out of this. Any insights would be much appreciated! Thank you so much for all that you do.

For QNA: As someone moving to the north eastern united states from Australia to be with my girlfriend and for work, how do you remain hopeful for the future in the face of everything? I try to be as optimistic as i can because of those i love and the incredible opportunities ive been offered in America and i'm optimistic about the election but i find i swing from "things are gonna be ok" to "its so over im not living past 21" often and id like to break out of that mindset.

Thank you for everything you and zooey do and i'm so glad you two got to take a well deserved break. ❤️

My question is: in the event that national anti-trans legislation is ever passed - which the GOP surely wants to do - what if anything would the protective “blue” states be able to do, if anything, regarding continuing their protections for trans people? Especially things like gender marker IDs, and trans health care. Usually federal legislation overrides state law when the two are in conflict, but sometimes there seem to be exceptions (e.g. marijuana legislation)...wondering what would be likely to happen in this scenario.

Erin - so happy you and Zooey had a good trip abroad!

First of all, glad you and Zooey had a great trip. I want to visit France (and Disney) so much!

Secondly, do you see any worrying trends with the far right in Canada, in regards to anti trans/anti gay stuff? They've so far resisted the same type of lurch to the right that England, Scotland, and the US have seen. Do you see that changing?

Please speak to what is happening in European and Scandinavian countries. How do we respond to comments that these countries are limiting transgender care. Is that true/false/nuanced? Enjoy your 🏰 time!

Hi Erin - self-care is so important and I'm happy you and Zooey are making time for yourselves and each other. It's awesome to see and inspirational. Also, thank you for your amazing reporting and writing. It's helped me so much in knowing what's going on out there without becoming overwhelmed to the point of paralysis.

For the Q&A, to echo a few other commenters here - I'm also interested in ways to engage with advocacy. I find it easy for me to go into "papa bear" mode as my trans child and the entire community continues to be attacked by bigoted legislation all over the U.S.. While anger helps with motivation, it doesn't help (at least me) to have any kind of level-headed conversations, which I feel would help me be more productive in finding methods of making change.

Any advocacy resources you could share, especially around talking points, arguments & counter arguments, would be awesome. I've taken a few awesome advocacy courses from Schuyler Bailar, and would love to see anything you can share as well.

Thank you!

Q&A: I have a road trip across the midwest coming up, including Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and South Dakota. I have my ID's all legally changed and although I'm tall, I can kinda slip by without attracting too much attention. What do you feel about safety, especially in Kansas?
