Led by a Trump sycophant and a disgraced sports media mogul, Trump’s new team seeks to snuff out trans students from sports, bathrooms and locker rooms.
Question: why do these politicians always say they’re protecting “biological females”, and not protecting also males, or “intersex people?
Answer: Because every law that is written, and passed that affects a trans bodies can be used against female bodies.
REMEMBER: Laws that target transgender bodies often rely on definitions of "biological sex" that can be easily applied to cisgender women as well.
This creates a dangerous precedent where women's bodily autonomy and privacy can be violated under the guise of "protecting women."
For example, laws that seek to define what a women is, or require examinations to prove what sex someone is, can be used against all women, not just trans women.
These laws create a ready-made Avenue, where the government gains increasing power to regulate and control individuals' bodies.
Yes. And this is where trans rights, LBGTQ+ rights generally, and reproductive rights are fused into one. The issue is bodily autonomy, specifically, over how, to what ends, and the manner in which you are allowed to use you reproductive organs and capacity.
We are paying a tragic price for the decades long failure of alliance between repro rights and trans and queer rights activists that leaves us unprepared to deal with the backlash underway.
If you boil it down, it's hatred, a denial of trans women's humanity itself, saying that because they were made the way they are, they are a curse upon themselves. That's what the administration's policy is telling us. I'm not accepting that. All lives matter, they said, but they are clearly lying, since they couldn't care less about these people's lives.
Joel, I couldn't agree more with your comment. The core of this is indeed a hateful denial of trans women's humanity, and it's unacceptable.
I think it’s important to add; these inhuman attacks create a climate of fear and discrimination that impacts all people now included under the “trans umbrella”.
While the specific ways anti-trans legislation affects trans women, trans men, and nonbinary folks might differ, the underlying message of invalidation and the resulting pain are very real and deeply felt across the entire community.

If Trump already said that the DOE is no longer in existence, the then argument against any claims made by this 'joint committee' are void and false And court should not hesitate to throw it out based on that aspect alone.
Let alone the fact that the Trump administration has never tried to protect women.
Finally, based on what maga did today with the SAVE Act by voting down an amendment to protect women's right to vote, maga has no standing to say they protect women.
Hard not to see this Tyrannical Transvestigation Team as a testing ground for ways to target trans people in general before rolling out a wider effort to drive us from society altogether. If the kneecapped and hobbled Dept. of Education can successfully harass and persecute trans kids in schools, imagine what the combined might of the FBI and NSA could do with the same playbook.
as a parent of a high school student in public schools (albeit in a red state that already has "banned" bathroom use), this is really frightening. How do we resist and stop this before kids get hurt?
We all know this is a wild goose chase. Without a doubt, they are launching this investigations in the hope of covering up the dismantling of the DOE, the failure to prosecute over Signalgate, and the economic crash following Trump's tariffs. I don't doubt they will come up with a few victims to sacrifice in this witch hunt. They will destroy the lives of teenagers, trans and cis, to cover up their own corruption. And the MAGAts will eat it up. Disgusting. The real predators here are in the Trump administration. Leave the kids alone.
This is like an episode of Police Squad. Leslie Nielsen as Det. Frank Drebin, outside a Woman's Room, gun drawn, demanding to know whether there's a man in there. "I'm coming in!" But this is my favorite line: “Protecting women and women’s sports is a key priority for this Department of Justice,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi." Well it sure as hell isn't making sure that the people you send to an El Salvadoran prison are deportable dipshit.
Thanks for this update, Erin. As always, your excellent and important reporting on these issues is a lifeline for those of us who are members of the gender spectrum community.
I'm afraid that the White House and its lackeys at the state level will try to distract the American public from the president's failed policies and falling poll numbers by issuing more cruel and stupid edicts that target the nation's most vulnerable and least understood and appreciated populations. Your reporting on these issues will be invaluable to future historians who will bring to light the nature and meaning of our fight.
Consider how the entirety of Title IX, the very concept behind it, the motivation for and support of it, could be construed and framed as both a result of and an example of what gets called "gender ideology."
The very idea that sex and gender raise issues of justice that need to be analyzed and addressed — that very notion is gender ideology. Thinking at all politically about sex and gender is gender ideology. The fact that we use the word "gender" to talk about aspects of "sex," that's also a reflection of "gender ideology."
The Violence Against Women Act and the 19th Amendment both reflect "gender ideology." The same way that the Civil Rights Acts and Brown v. Board of Education reflect "DEI."
In the end, this is who and what we are dealing with.
I like the phrase "intimate facilities" as a way of making a multi-user rest room sound like it's a space reserved for changes of menstrual sanitary equipment. When I worked the midnight shift in a gas station on an interstate, it fell to me to clean both the men's and the women's rest rooms. Naturally we blockaded the entryway but the only person who was looking over the partitions was the pervert at a different station who had found a way to climb up and create a peephole in the ceiling.
If only they would put the same level of energy into flushing out actual rapists and child molesters in churches and families instead of covering them up.

I was thinking the same thing. Thanks for speaking up!!

Well said.
Of course Linda McMahon is involved with child sex abuse. Everything they accuse us of doing, they are actually guilty of.

Bring back MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch! It's the kind of therapy the country- nay, the world- desperately needs right now.
Yes!
The silly irony is that the team investigating it is likely larger than the total number of trans athletes competing at the college level.

I swear, the first time someone tries to inspect my kid's genetalia, I will go ballistic on their ass.
