Judge Janet Protasiewicz won a major Supreme Court race in Wisconsin, giving the state its first liberal majority in 15 years. This is despite a massive, transphobic ad blitz by her opponents.
Fantastic reporting, as usual, Erin. We trans folk have been placed in the absolutely improbable position of perhaps swinging the 2024 presidential and Congressional elections, that is if the R's continue centering our demonization as campaign strategy. And they've really got nothing else. Love is love, and that message seems to be resonating far more than the hate driven rhetoric of the bad guys.
This is the kind of smart read that you can't get from the Elon bird-shit machine, or dog-poop machine or whatever it is, now. Thanks for this, Erin! Good writing and good news, both!
I know it’s normal for you guys over in the US, but I can’t believe you elect your judges, let alone party political lines. I know our system may seem cliquey, but at least we, on the whole, expect our judges to be apolitical at work. Blows my mind 🤯
In South Carolina a Republican super-majority elects their pals to the bench. And we end up with scam-artists for judges, and a multi-billion dollar nuke plant fraud case that gets page seven coverage while a broken window in a Black Lives Matter protest gets the front page top of fold. We are too often a weird, troubled lot, here in the former colonies.
As always this is excellent reporting Erin! Thank you for the work you are doing! What a colossal waste of money by the radical right re-PUG-li-CONs. I for one am happy their BS didn't work this time around. And that ad is loaded with hypocrisy. I wish the party would die out. Because the radicals ones are so dangerous.
Excellent reporting as always, Erin! This article presents an emotional dichotomy for me in a way. As a transgender woman, the constant attacks from the R party are extremely disturbing. They hurt my heart. But at the same time, as a Democrat, when I see the Rs do something that ultimately result in election loss, part of me feels...proud? Or at least less hurt. The Rs damage our society and economic well being in so many ways, that being the catalyst for their demise would almost feel like a worthy sacrifice, if they weren't harming (and targeting) transgender children as well. Almost, but not quite.

Love all you do for our community! Thank you!
This is such good news, just all around. ❤️🏳️⚧️

It really should be non-political but this is what it has evolved into unfortunately.

It does seem you’ve rather thrown the baby out of the bath water after your little tantrum in Boston 🤭😘
*with not of 🤦♀️
Perhaps, but the whole royalty thing we still seem to desire: look at our spray-tanned King wannabe!

This is encouraging news we needed right now.
Good news always welcomed. What a win.
