There is no doubt that in 2024, GOP candidates at all levels will be rushing to adopt ever more extreme anti-LGBT and anti-trans positions. Besides the horrible specific impacts on trans people, the ongoing wave of broad legislative attacks speak volumes about the sad current state of our country. A healthy democracy does not need to marginalize and take away rights from already-vulnerable groups, so that a culture war can be fought for political purposes.

Good thing only fools would believe tRump was ever supportive of anyone but himself. Imagine being a supporter of his, you’d have to be a miserable despicable and self loathing person to follow such a deplorable degenerate.

Sigh I don’t like when the cishets focus so much of their attention on “us”. But it’s not really us - their dark fiction they’ve invented is far from reality. Sadly the impact on our lives is real.

Trump was a menace to equality and basic freedom.

The only silver lining to all of this nonsense is that it appears to backfire during general elections. The "independent" voters who typically decide these things are usually turned off by extremist views. The Rs lost a lot in 2022. Hopefully that continues.

This is just all getting very scary.

It’s so depressing that after all the horrible things Trump has done and wants to do, the worst thing they can imagine is supporting trans rights

I’m so tired of all the misinformation and total lies the GOP and the Christian Nationalist are spewing and refusing to educate themselves on affirming care for children.

The sad thing is most of the far right voters believe this crap.

The political road of reform will be long [as usual], and I hope my U.S. neighbours will NOT cast a vote in favour of Mr. Trump again. Please stay safe, and well, Everyone. Sending lots of Love from London, Ontario, Canada.

Screams false flag to me. The address links back this this org from my cursory searching: https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_ia/595995 me thinks they want to push the DeSantis line to folks in an undercover way. Shameless.

He was likely the most supportive, at least in words if not in deeds, of all GOP presidents or candidates. Unfortunately, that support, even if mainly token or virtue-signaling (appearing with a rainbow flag) -- is out now for any GOP candidate. This is a bad turn. I was hoping that support could become more grounded in deeds over time. The fact that DeSantis is campaigning on Trump supporting LGBT is, again, a bad sign. However, it is also possible that many are turned off by the DeSantis campaign's reliance on this issue. Though yes, now Trump is being pushed to harsher positions than he otherwise may have taken. This is very bad news so -- we have BAD news with the GOP all around. There are outliers in the GOP who disagree on these issues and broadly support LGBT and trans - but they are few and far between. We are in a for a fight when a major political party makes us their wedge issue.

There is no question that we will be targeted during the election cycle and if a republican wins the presidency, our lives will be significantly negatively impacted. I honestly don’t want to think about what that could entail. I just want to live my life right now. It feels like life in general is measured in presidential terms.
