Unfortunately the DOJ in partnership with red state AGs will keep trying to pursue these kinds of settlements. If a hospital in a blue state ends up agreeing to a settlement like this, people NEED to sue! Because providing care to detransitioners but not trans people would 100% violate blue states anti discrimination laws!
I think this is just a steady campaign to establish a "presumption" that transgender = mentally ill and therefore subject to legal prohibition. They'll just keep chipping away at spineless bureaucrats, until they're strong enough to get national prohibitions. The "Counterterrorism Policy" made this clear.
I can’t believe this. I had my bottom surgery there a little over a year ago. My entire experience with them was wonderful, and now they are caving in to the assholes.
I live in N.E. Ohio and our choices for healthcare around here are Cleveland Clinic and Mercy Health (where you get a side of Christianity with your medicine). Sigh.
Trump and his lackeys continue their campaign to pressure clinics, hospitals, and medical providers into ending care for transgender youth. What makes this even more troubling is that in many cases these services remain legal, yet far all too many healthcare organizations are backing down because they put money before their patients rather than standing up for their patients and medical professionals.
Healthcare decisions should be based on medical judgment, scientific evidence, and the needs of patients — not political intimidation. If hospitals, clinics, and healthcare systems collectively refused to bow to political pressure, much of this bullying would lose its power.
The blame does not stop there. Far too many politicians claim to support transgender youth and their families, issue statements, hold press conferences, and make promises, but have no balls when it comes time to act, they are nowhere to be found. While they talk, young people lose access to care, families are left in limbo, and providers face increasing pressure.
Leadership requires more than words. It requires the courage to stand up when it matters. Right now, too many elected officials are failing that test while this administration continues to run roughshod over the healthcare rights of vulnerable young people.
Not long. We will be arrested and forcibly detransitioned before it's all over. We will be lucky if they don't just kill us. Cisgender people can do anything they want to us and no one is going to save us.
Yes, because they HAVE. It took the last Reich four weeks after Hitler was made Chancellor to open the first concentration camp and only 7 years for the implementation of systematically mass murder in a Henry Ford assembly line style. I suspect this Reich will try to do better.
The population of Ohio is about 12 Million. Trans people are about 1% of the population. I don't know what fraction of that includes any form of medical transition, let's be generous and say 80%. About 5% detransition. So that's "millions of dollars" for a center for 4800 people. Detransitioners need the same things as trans people, and significantly the same thing as many cis people; hormones, top surgery, bottom surgery and other things that a medical clinic won't provide like voice training and hair removal. So I really am curious where this money is going to go. A web page, maybe an additional label on some existing staff and some new reports? Dedicating space would be absurd, it'd be empty most of the time.
Fucking Cleveland Clinic Administration - this is reflecting assholes in meeting rooms choosing what healthcare they think is important. I hope clinicians leave them in droves and are welcomed elsewhere to provide all appropriate medical care.
Not only does the need not increase faster than does increase the number of people who transition, the need such as it is is for transition back the other way. They had a transition clinic which was necessarily a detransition clinic as well.
Not only that, but the need seems to perfectly well at least confirm the <1% regret rate can not possibly be higher than that. In the United States there are at least 270,000* medically transitioned people living quite happily. The social conservatives have spent over a decade and more than $100 million chasing ambulances and have only 28 lawsuits to show for it. Last line of this article.
*Could be more a quarter million, depends on definitions used.
Thank you Baum.
PS. No such order as the "Cleveland Clinic" is complying with, can be given or implemented without possibly contravening 42 U.S.C. § 1983, 18 U.S.C. § 241, & 18 U.S.C. § 242. What the Social Conservatives want and are doing is not legal.
Fuck the Cleveland clinic. Fuck red states. I don't travel to them, I don't buy products from them. The United States is dead. It's time for blue states to stop sending taxes to Washington. Not that cisgender people would give a shit about us.
This is reprehensible and pathetic. I had been directing people to The Cleveland Clinic as a reputable source of health information, now that the CDC is a joke. But that stops now. I won’t be using or recommending The Cleveland Clinic for any topic until they rectify this anti-scientific, inhumane move.
It’s a very silly settlement that allows the facility to continue to maintain existing services and staff, as the care for a theoretical detransitioner is pretty much what a transition in the other direction would need.
It will be amusing to look at these services in a few years to compare demand for trans and detrans services.

Well, there goes any respect I had for that organization. Which was not much, given that they are located in Cleveland.

Cleveland Clinic is also in the Epstein files 99 times.
Not for wrongdoing, though. "This includes emails from Cleveland Clinic doctors looking for grants or donations from the one-time multi-millionaire. Other mentions are in emails from Epstein himself recommending treatments to friends at the Cleveland Clinic." https://www.cleveland19.com/2026/02/04/cleveland-appears-798-times-epstein-files-including-mentions-browns-clinic-local-school/

How long until these clinics become mandatory? Asking for a community.

Allies exist! We will prevail against these ill informed nin- scientists! Vote!!!!!!
Anyone else feel like they've just announced the opening of a concentration camp or a re-education center?
Yes, because they HAVE. It took the last Reich four weeks after Hitler was made Chancellor to open the first concentration camp and only 7 years for the implementation of systematically mass murder in a Henry Ford assembly line style. I suspect this Reich will try to do better.

How about they keep doing what they are now and rebrand it detransition care
Bingo! Care for detransitioners is quite similar to care for transitioners in the opposite direction.

Gutted. I am going to need time to process this betrayal.
