I swear to god, we’re going to have to start airlifting queer people out of the south at some point.

My wife and I left North Carolina in November. The south simply isn't safe anymore and is getting worse everyday. But in reality, I'm genuinely starting to wonder if we're safe anywhere.💔

As much I struggle to believe this myself sometimes, this can’t last forever.

Pulling people out of the south isn’t going to help much if the GOP scores victories in November, and the legislative attacks become national and affect all 50 states.

Clearly, this anti-trans legislative garbage is not about making the legislators popular with their actual constituents. Matter of fact, they pass it ‘in the dark of night’ so most constituents don’t even know. Soooooooo… what is this, smoke & mirrors? What’s behind the smoke & mirrors that they are hiding?

I could make a very long list of guesses, and this toxic legislative effort is likely strengthened by all of it. But maybe the biggest “hide” is that their overall “governing” (where you can even call it that) makes life WORSE for their constituents in every impact?

It’s almost like they don’t actually give a shot about making anyone’s life better and only follow the interests of donors.🤯

I don’t see a shred of evidence that they care about anyone—except keeping their votes and getting their money. And getting lots of it from the big-money interests that they serve. But you gotta keep a base, eh?!?

I think most of their constituents will vote on party lines and aren't really paying attention to how their interests are being ignored.

Thanks for the reporting Erin. What is happening in Georgia is disgraceful and disappointing. It’s no surprise that it’s happening in a southern state, of course, but it is sad that it’s happening in a Biden 2020 state. Since when do legislators know what medical therapy is best for patients, over and above doctors, families and medical organizations?

What are the changes this ultimately passes and becomes law? I suspect given that this is the southeast, pretty high?

Fairly high unfortunately.

Walking contradictions, the lot of them. So bold and proud in their hatred- but such sniveling cowards in their conduct. A legislator, a member of the government, wielding untold power over millions of lives... fleeing in terror from a child. The most vitriolic bile in front of TV cameras... but not a peep as they hastily shuffle some papers together to pass their agenda into law with trickery because they couldn't even win the debate by muzzling the opposition so their voices would be the only ones heard.

This is the party of bravado, machismo, would-be architects of a genocide... jumping at shadows and tilting at windmills, sneaking around and dealing under the table because they can't defend what they're doing when they do it in the daylight. Turns out all those anecdotes about elephants being scared of mice were laser-accurate after all! Wonder if we could put this nonsense to bed just by walking up to them and shouting "boo!" in their faces- half of 'em would probably just die of shock on the spot.

So happy not to live in such a place. Although my particular part of Pennsyltucky is more "tucky" than "Pennsyl" but at least our legislature is not quite as boop-shoobie as some others.

Every last one of them who ever goes into a trans friendly bar or trolls as a chaser online needs to be outed. Just sayin.

Is there any update on what happened with the senate debating HB 1170?
