In my humble opinion, people who are obsessed with OTHER PEOPLE'S gender identities and sexual orientations are perverts. You know that "straight" "religious" person who keeps talking about gender and gay issues? It's like, hey dude, why are you interested? Give it a rest. Maybe these chuds are starting to realize that they're outing themselves as too interested in these issues for reasons having nothing to do with "protecting the kids," "protecting the women" and "upholding God's will."

This is good news for Georgia, at least for the time being. As much as I’d like to believe the anti-trans movement is losing steam, I think they’re just pausing. The increasing viciousness of the recent legislative attacks - for example, such things as ending legal recognition, and sex definitions based on gametes - are internecine. They make me believe that right-wing extremists have no stopping point, and they want to eliminate the ability of trans people to participate in society and to get medical care. The national elections in November pose a grave danger to trans people, as highlighted in Erin’s article. Through all the mayhem, trans people must hold on to the joy of being their authentic selves, and living authentically - something our opponents can never empathize with or relate to.

I had the pleasure of being there and I can tell you that this came down to the wire. Even at the last minute, Republican’s were rewriting the trans sports ban to make it more palatable and easier to pass. We literally didn’t know if we were safe until after midnight.

I’m so excited and happy that we were able to make a difference in Georgia politics. Special thanks goes out to Georgia Equality, HRC Atlanta, and the Georgia Youth Justice Coalition.

There might be enough Republicans with enough functioning brain cells to realize that this has become a losing issue for them, and that they shouldn't push too hard as they enter the peak of a Presidential election season... but they'll be right back at it everywhere they have a majority come next year. Including the Federal government, if they can swing it.

Why would reactionary conservatives stop attacking trans people just because what they're doing is unpopular? Hasn't ever stopped them before. Three quarters of the country was firmly behind Roe, but they fed 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 down the garbage disposal anyway; why would 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 kind of bodily autonomy be any different? They've made perfectly clear that they don't care what the electorate thinks or wants, and equally clear that 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 want to roll back every civil rights gain that's been made for the last hundred years (or two hundred, in some cases).

I don't think this culture war will stop until the Republican party is dead in the ground- and even then, we'll have to keep whatever replaces it under a microscope.

My suspicion is most voters are tired of their legislators spending so much time on anti-trans legislation. They want their representatives to work on things that actually affect them, not culture-war BS that only affects a small minority. And that includes folks who are uncomfortable with the existence of trans people.

Good question. What is up? This is too good to believe. We see no other indications that they are losing steam. They're still talking the talk, so why aren't they walking the walk. What is going on behind the scenes? Is there any word about collusion between Trump and AIPAC? If AIPAC decided that their man Biden was a sinking ship, might they make a deal with Trump to help deliver him the election in return for his unflinching support of genocide in Palestine? And in return, they will support his 24-point agenda and the establishment of a complete fascist dictatorship within the US?

We need to get organized. Because by the time we figure out what is going on, it may be too late. We need to organize our resistance and ally ourselves to other anti-fascist groups. If we don't do that until it's too late, we could go the way of trans people in Germany at the rise of the Nazi party.

The system under which we live is doing unspeakable things. Witness Palestine, witness the Congo, witness Sudan, and many many other colonial battlefields around the world. Witness the unrelenting environmental destruction as they seek to shore up all resource assets and economic wealth. Witness how the working class is being impoverished within this country, even as they take steps to declare homelessness illegal. And witness what they are threatening to do to us, the transgender community. It's time to wake up.

Personally, I believe we need to act now, this spring and this summer. Don't wait for the election. That's a hoax. We haven't got the time. Nor have the Palestinians, and all those others who are suffering around the world. We need to act now. We need to shut it down. If you think that's extreme, then you still believe the fairy tales about democracy and capitalism. Don't be naive.

We will continue to fight by writing our legislators and anyone who will listen that it's not ok to put children in harms way and to respect the civil rights of all Americans regardless of their sex. It is so important that for those seeking re-election that they know we will only support candidates that support the civil rights of all Americans, especially our children and their safety from bullies on school grounds and in public spaces.

Good news. I want to think that they're all focusing on their next non crisis (illegal immigration) and give the anti trans stuff a rest... but even still, around me there are a lot of TERFs making just our presence a bigger problem than it actually is.

I think, in Georgia, more needs to be addressed about the how the anti-trans riders effectively killed a bill about mental health that is desperately needed within high school athletics. The youth mental health crisis is very. I see it every day as a high school teacher and soccer coach. The desperation of the religious right just absolutely ruined an important piece of legislation for students and staff that would have helped weaken the tidal wave of depression and anxiety that has crushed the shores of our youth.

Their own voters need to be explicitly told how their legislators failed every kid with those amendments so that they can be held accountable by parents and community members in their home districts.

A bit relieved for the moment that the rest of the country isn't following in the Intermountain (UT,ID,WY) area's hateful year.

Would like to think that Utah got ahead of the public in trying to be the "first with the worst." Pretty sure they'll keep going next year if there isn't a correction in Nov. and there never is. Too gerrymandered to expect much else.😕😡

Naaaaaa, they're just taking a break. I'd bet $100 on it. I swear they're all convening in Washington DC, and keep having to do so to analyze their outcomes in these United States. Then they return to their residence and presume attacking some more. I don't think we've seen the bottom. I couldn't trust these trends if I had a rock to throw at them. I might blacken an eye or two, then 50 of them will come rushing at me. The damage has been done, regardless of legislation. Bigots are emboldened to say anything around people they have no clue are trans, including me. That hasn't stopped, so there is no bottom.

I can only hope that the supporters of these bills and attempts to codify hatred of trans people fall into a dark ditch and never get up,
