Let's be honest about what this worldview represents: Trying to eliminate the transgender community and taking women backward to a time when their "proper" place was supposedly in the home—cooking, raising children, and staying out of positions of influence. Those battles were fought decades. In 2026, it's astonishing that anyone still promotes these ideas. Equality doesn't threaten society; it threatens those who are uncomfortable sharing opportunity and power. Universities should be places that challenge outdated stereotypes, not lend credibility to them.

You're quite right, their approach is inexcusable; even as a defence, his tenure is weak sauce - they could have explicitly condemned his position even while noting that tenure meant they couldn't give him the boot immediately, and made it clear to him that continuing would violate university policy and result in withdrawal of his tenure (that'd probably have resulted in a legal fight, which I imagine is one of the things they wanted to avoid, but *having* that legal fight would have been far better for their reputation). Tenure *does* make the fine difference between whether they're platforming him *willingly*, vs being less than happy about doing so but going along with it anyway (we could quibble about the word choices for days, but ultimately, if they're *un*willing to take a solid stance in opposition to his vile misogyny, it makes no practical difference; just means they lack will at best).
