Fulsome yet succinct!

When I was in high school, a female student sued the district, and won, to be able to join the wrestling team (only males at this time). This case is bullshit and ADF are ambulance chasers, at best.

Gender fascism. No longer "Our Bodies, Ourselves". It's now, your body IS OURS TO CONTROL.

They've been radicalized with their Transgender Eradication Ideology.

And I hope they (the ADF) lose big time.

AGAIN, the only people involved who are necessarily child abusers are the Gender Critical/Social Conservative ones. Their "gender ideology" which is the only one that really exists, requires it of them.

Thank you for the reporting, Mrs. Reed.

RE this,

They could use the help I'm sure . . . [and we would appreciate an update!]

This version of SCOTUS doesn’t care about facts if they see the word “transgender” in the filing. Plus its ADF…

This is bull crap. I lost in 2004 for New England and state wrestling championships to a female: I never got mad or considered gender. I got pinned

Well, this is taking the facts, as apparent on the replay and the referee's judgement, that no assault occurred, and turning it into a group lynching. This movement can be mis-performed by any gender with the same result, and had a Cis-female wrestler been the one to make the error, no cry of "assault" would be being made, the other wrestler would shake it off. The parents of the Trans-athlete have the right not to have their child "outed", if parents even need come into this discussion. May I suggest if the Cis-gender female student is uncomfortable with contact that can mistakenly happen between herself and an opponent on the mat, that she may be in the wrong sport? Perhaps she could go out for track and field.

This latest filing involving a transgender wrestler is extremely troubling—and the facts need to be made clear.

The allegation of sexual misconduct has been repeatedly used to portray this transgender athlete as having intentionally sexually assaulted another wrestler. But that is not what the subsequent investigation established. Prosecutors declined to bring criminal charges, and the referee who reviewed the video reportedly said the movement appeared to be an attempted wrestling maneuver and that the hand placement was not clearly outside what can occur during a wrestling match.

That distinction matters enormously.

A wrestling maneuver that goes wrong is not automatically a sexual assault. An allegation is not a finding of criminal conduct. Yet this incident continues to be presented in ways that can make it appear that a transgender athlete deliberately committed sexual misconduct.

Even the Ninth Circuit recognized that the lawsuit centers on an allegation involving one student, while the relief being sought would apply much more broadly to transgender athletes generally. The court denied the requested emergency injunction.

So let's stick to the facts.

What did the investigation actually find? What does the video show? What did the referee conclude? Why was no criminal charge filed? And why should the actions alleged in one individual incident be used to justify policies affecting an entire group of transgender students?

Those are legitimate questions.

We should absolutely take any allegation involving a student seriously. But we should also take evidence, due process and the findings of investigators seriously.

What we should NOT do is take an incident where prosecutors declined to bring charges and turn it into ammunition against an entire transgender community.

If this case is going to be argued before the Supreme Court, then the complete facts—not the most inflammatory version of the allegation—need to be on the table.

What we have is another organization and a parent using this incident as a reason to go after the transgender community again.

Geez! If these people don't want their fragile little girl to be touched or grabbed, then why did they allow her to join the wrestling team?!

It really shows how overblown the whole shitstorm about trans women in sports is, that nothingburger cases like this and 'ol Fifth Place Gaines are the best they can scrape up to prove their point.

It also shows how fucking stupid conservative voters are, that they keep falling for such obvious bullshit and giving these culture war grifters power.

Mike Gelt's avatar

You are correct, but the problem is the ultra conservative Supreme Court who will probable go along with this bullshit

The Alliance Defending Freedom wants to make trans kids less free. You just can't make this shit up. Have you ever seen a sub-community more intent on creating pain, prosecuting bigotry, hurling ridiculous (I almost said Trumped-up, BUT I WON'T) allegations or seeking to perform evil?

Most right-wing names (e.g. organizations and legislation) are deeply ironic. For instance, Patriot Act. Defense of Marriage Act.

ADF *not* ADL. That was very confusing for a minute.
