Here we go again: the Trump administration has decided that it knows more about transgender youth healthcare than the doctors, researchers, medical institutions, and professional organizations that actually study and treat these young people.
Apparently, in Trump’s America, science is whatever HHS says it is after the politics have been decided. Why bother with years of medical research when you can simply produce a politically convenient report, slap the word “science” on it, and declare yourself an expert?
HHS has repeatedly pushed reports and conclusions that have been heavily criticized and rejected by respected medical and scientific organizations because they fail to accurately reflect the broader body of evidence. But why let inconvenient facts get in the way when there is a political agenda to protect?
Trump and his administration aren't “protecting children.” They are using vulnerable transgender youth as political punching bags while pretending their ideology is medical expertise. These young people and their families deserve evidence-based healthcare—not political interference from politicians who seem to think a government report can magically replace a qualified doctor.
If Trump and HHS actually cared about children's health, they would follow the evidence instead of manufacturing fear, cherry-picking information, and attacking medical professionals who don't give them the answers they want.
Apparently the new Trump-HHS medical degree comes with one prerequisite: agree with Trump first, find the “science” later.
Transgender youth deserve better than this disgraceful political charade. Their healthcare should be determined by qualified medical professionals and the best available evidence—not by Trump, political appointees at HHS, or anyone else who puts ideology ahead of science.
And this is exactly why we must vote. We cannot sit on the sidelines while politicians decide whose rights, healthcare, and dignity they are willing to sacrifice for political points. Vote in November. Vote for candidates who respect science, defend transgender youth, and will stand up to this administration instead of bending the knee to it.
Register. Show up. Vote. And make damn sure the people who believe government should control other people's lives are sent a message they cannot ignore: OUR VOTES ARE NOT YOURS TO TAKE FOR GRANTED.

Not a day goes by that I’m not grateful that I live in the great state of Connecticut.
It may be worthwhile to write a note of support to your state's attorney general if you reside in one of these states.
