Oh, I definitely feel that, especially since I've been getting some of my gender-affirming care from the UCLA Health system.

The Board of Regents should be held fully accountable to the faculty, students and the public for their actions. Should they bend a knee to Trump, then the governor and others should call for their resignations immediately.

What Trumps administration is doing is patently illegal, and unenforceable under the law. The line needs to be drawn and firmly held.

Let's definitely do it. For all those that have strength to fight, we need to stand up and say no.

If UCLA capitulates to orange hitler and his fascists it will be catastrophic for trans rights, not just for the trans folks that rely on them for medical care - but for all of us, nation wide.

And this happens, showcasing for the thousandth time that the Trumpist GOPMAGA regime intends to eradicate every single one of us, by death, detransition, incarceration and forced detransition, emigrating, re-closeting, or suicide. They have told us that is their goal, and I believe them. I watch my friends move to other countries, legally and or medically detransition, or kill themselves, and YET a majority of Americans and a majority of Democrats are STILL pretending GENOCIDE ISN'T HAPPENING.

What are they waiting for?

What will it take?

The MAGAts have worked very hard, very publicly, very brutally to bring America to this point where open discussion of ending we transgender, intersex, and gender expansive people is a normalized and acceptable topic of public policy. Why don't Democrats believe the GOPMAGAs are serious about this?

Why are so very few willing to even acknowledge what's happening?

I don't expect cisgender people to save us, that would be foolish and pollyanna levels of stupid; we're going to either have to save ourselves or die. But I DO want everyone who isn't a card carrying neo-Nazi GOPMAGA to at least admit to themselves:

1. This is happening.

2. They aren't even going to try to stop it or pretend to care, like Newsom or Schumer or Moulton or all the other performative fake AINOs.

3. And best hope no one's conscience aches a wee bit later.

That's all.

I just want them to admit they know it's happening, so that no one later will even be tempted to try to say "hey, what happened to all the transgender women? Nonbinary people? Two spirit folk? Where did they go?"

I'm so disgusted with the universities, colleges, and corporations that have no balls to stand up to this sick, racist, homophobic republican administration. It is however encouraging to see so many students and faculty standing up for what is right

THIS IS NOT THE COUNTRY I GREW UP IN - THIS IS NOT THE COUNTRY WE ARE - WE MUST TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY AND VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT

I have no idea how to correct the matter in any of the mass media, but the lust among Social Conservatives to abuse transgender children with the child's own sex is monstrous and must be clearly objected to, by us, by our allies, in the media.

Why have I never hear it clearly said the Social Conservatives are forcing boys to have breasts and periods and forcing girls to have beards and deep voices?! Directly and clearly state the SoCons are the monsters they claim they are fighting!? Why have I never seen where McBride or any other transgender politician have been clear in such a way?

Unfortunately, our enemies simply think that trans people do not exist. In their mind, a boy cannot be forced to have breasts - if you have breasts, in their calculation, you're a girl, end of story.

That said, our response should not be to accept the conservatives' hateful premise, but as you say instead, to "directly and clearly state the SoCons are the monsters they claim they are fighting." The absence of a strong Democratic response to their propaganda campaign signals to less-informed Americans, perhaps unsure of which side to take, that the Republicans cannot be challenged on the issue, and are therefore correct.

Where is McBride? Using the men's room in the capitol building - like a coward.

Fortunately, I know of at least one trans politician who speaks forcefully in our defense - Erin's wife, Zooey Zephyr.

But trans politicians, alone, won't be enough. Our demographics are too small, too diffuse, and too marginalized. Our only hope - as long as this political system prevails - is for major liberal organizations and the Democratic Party to have our back. Cis people need to stand up for what's right.

Perhaps cowardice feels like safety to the privileged. For the rest of us, it is an unconscionable betrayal.

"Unfortunately, our enemies simply think that trans people do not exist."

I know that, I've observed that many times, including here in EITM chats and threads.

"But trans politicians ... for what's right."

I can believe that, but, how can it be that even in extremis we have no spokespeople at all saying on our behalf what is real, who can get in front of a national camera? . . .

. . . can we even generate consensus amongst ourselves on what should be said?

McBride betrayed the community on Day One with the bathroom ban. She has private facilities in her office, the ban was never going to affect her personally, so why should she care?

Too many people still seem to think they can negotiate their way down the menu, and that the leopards will be sated before getting 'round to them and theirs. Hopefully UCLA's Board of Regents recognizes that their faces are, indeed, also made of meat.

The University of Michigan recently capitulated to the Trump Administration. Many are trying to get the university to reverse its decision. Their Board of Regents meets tomorrow. We in Michigan are absolutely horrified.

Dear CA residents - you can still sign up for the public comment for the meeting at 9/17 at 8:30 AM - you need to register by 5:00 PM PST - if you have the ability and the strength to speak, please put it on record as this is very important. Here is the link that I found via s. baum's article:

My healthcare is in the UCLA health system. I'm an adult - any idea if the Trump admin is putting pressure to end all gender affirming care through the UCLA system? I hope we can all fight against ending gender affirming care for youth as well as that is the "lowest hanging fruit" for the admin.

I wrote an op ed two weeks ago about how the current admin is forcing hospitals into a terrible trolly problem. I absolutely did not see that it applied to these secret threats. Do the colleges risk losing an incredible amount of funding or throw a tiny minority group under the bus? Also, there are some really evil people in this admin like Steven Miller.

Schools are easy pickings because it's so hard to put pressure from below on the board of regents. Students work so hard to get there, they don't want to jeopardize their education, and teachers aren't exactly over-compensated. It would be great though if they all just stopped showing up to make the point that schools have no reason to exist without students and teachers. It's hard to replace some of the amazing labs and other facilities in our amazing universities, but 70% of most curriculum could be taught in a rented out strip mall space for a fraction of the cost. There is no value placed on the true wealth of our universities which resides in the teacher's heads and their gift of transmiting knowledge.
