I’m sorry guys. I only drove a few buses of illegal immigrants across the border. Yes I did have an upside down flag on the bus and yes I also offered abortion services but idk how this was my fault. Ok yes I did personally deliver them to exclusively liberal cities but they declined the satanic orgy so I feel like this is barely my fault

Instead of jokes for deflecting from what you think is serious, you really should put some effort into figuring out which lie Social Conservatives tell about us which you think we should adopt and accept as true as a compromise, to reduce the "backlash" -- which you seem to think we need to do.

Jesus, that comment of hers you linked is dumb. I wonder if she describes cis feminists as reeking of male privilege when they stand up for themselves. Transmisogyny, kids... not even once.

My comment was for us to look at this objectively and to reflect upon our movement. I see once again we’re unable to look at anything critically and this is why we continue to fail. There is nothing wrong with doing a self assessment before you decide to martyr yourself.

There is no f--king movement, Veronica, anymore than the idea the "Whites Only" signs were wrong were an "ideology" injected by "outside agitators". We are not failing, until and unless we decide as you want us to, that some of those signs for us should stay up -- that as you think, we are not really entirely people.

To hell with that. And until you can decide what lie Social Conservative say of us that you are willing to admit is actually real, and that you think we should accept is real, I think you need to focus your efforts deciding what lie about us you think you can sell here for the MAGAts. Prove you can think critically by deciding which lie.

What lie do you love Veronica? Which one have you sold yourself for, for the sake of nothing?

The lie that we’re a civil rights movement comparable with the desegregation movement or the one I often hear comparing our plight to jews in Nazi Germany. False equivalency. I am simply pointing out that what we’re currently doing is not working. Things have changed . I realize I won’t get much sympathy in here but I will be here offering wisecracks as we lose more while having faith in I don’t know what to fix are problems

"The lie that we’re a civil rights movement comparable with the desegregation movement or the one I often hear comparing our plight to jews in Nazi Germany."

That's no lie, Veronica -- it is the express intention of the Social Conservatives to exterminate us.

"I am simply pointing out that what we’re currently doing is not working."

Not because we are doing the wrong thing, Veronica, but because we are not doing enough of the right thing -- which is loudly, publicly insisting that measured reality be respected, that the Social Conservative position is one that required grotesque child abuse.

" I realize I won’t get much sympathy in here"

You should not, nor any respect much either, because you don't have the courage or wit to propose any productive thing about which we should "compromise" -- which lie about us the Social Conservatives tell which we should pretend is real as a "compromise".

What do you think would work, Veronica ?

I stand by my comments and they haven’t changed. Humor is a way yes to deflect but also to not let the current state get us down. Yes I could do the woe is me , they’re committing genocide yada yada yada… But that has been ineffective and just feeds people’s depression. Yes we could all be keyboard warriors fighting the good fight but I repeat that’s not working. Remember the gay marriage bill passed congress because compromise was made. Maybe something similar is warranted on our end. But please just stick with the pity me approach. No thanks, some of us aren’t going down without utilizing every avenue to survive. So I ask you in turn, what is your Waterloo?

Expand full comment
Talia Perkins's avatar

"I stand by ... is your Waterloo?"

Why no, you have nothing serious to say worth hearing. Your big idea is to give them some of what they say they want and pray they don't take everything they want. I have news for you -- we can not compromise on our existence, our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness productively at all. Not even slightly.

What you need to absorb is they think we don't really exist at all. None of us, not at all.

They think we are all mentally ill and or willfully perverse pedophile cisgender people. All of us. Not the one who don't "pass", not the ones who are "loud", not the ones who are "activist".

All of us.

All of it is a lie, we can not compromise with any of it.

Expand full comment
Veronica Erin's avatar

Compromise is where each side gets something. What are our rights? It depends. It sounds like you’re unwilling to compromise on anything, that gets a little tricky. We are not a serious vote bloc ie not enough of us. I just caution building the alter for us to be sacrificed on.

Nicola A's avatar

Which rights do you want to not have? I will not accept anything less than equality. If wanting to be an equal human being is "male privilege," it sounds like you're just opposed to civil rights in general.

"Compromise is where each side gets something."

But there are no grounds for compromise Veronica, because the Social Conservatives do not really believe we exist to be compromised with.

Again, what lie about us that they tell do you pretend we should lie also to say is actually real?

You want to pretend you are a serious person with something serious to say, then be specific. You want to pretend the "backlash" is because we are out of line, they say how we are, be specific.

"Remember the gay marriage bill passed congress because compromise was made."

By the way, what compromise do you think was involved? Also, there was no such law passed, it was a SCOTUS decision. The only thing Congress did was obey Obergfell, so, what compromise there?

Expand full comment
Veronica Erin's avatar

Wrong, a bi partisan bill passed congress codifying gay marriage in case supreme court overturned. It allowed exemptions for states and religious exemptions. H.R.8404 — 117th Congress (2021-2022)

Expand full comment
Talia Perkins's avatar

Wrong, that was only obedience to Obergfell, and it has never been true that religious organizations had to accept other religions or states contrary marriage law, and there was no exceptions for states -- the Constitution specifies all states must accept other state's legal acts.

The Ten Stages of Genocide (https://hmd.org.uk/learn-about-the-holocaust-and-genocides/what-is-genocide/the-ten-stages-of-genocide/) is clear: this is ALL about persecuting trans people. Trump is identifying trans people as a societal "menace" that justifies his draconian crackdowns and troops marching in the streets. And EVERY fascist movement in history has used a marginalized community to justify their own draconian actions.

This is pure fascism, plain and simple.

Considering the fact that Trump has been deporting millions of people, several of whom were legally allowed to be here, I'm really scared about him trying to link trans people to immigrants in any way. How much would it really take for him to simply label trans people as an inherent danger to the country and start ordering us to be removed too?

Expand full comment
Vera Vox's avatar

It would be very difficult for them to target US Citizens who are trans for removal. However, they certainly could target transgender visitors and immigrants and they already started doing that by denying visas to transgender athletes entering the country.

Would it be that difficult though? They've been on quite the spree of "Do it first, ask forgiveness from

the Supreme Court later." With gangs of unmarked, masked "immigration agents" going around it kinda feels like all bets are off... but we'll see. I'd like to HOPE people would give a shit if trans people start disappearing, but I'm not sure the news would even cover it for a while...

The push to take away birthright citizenship is a move in this exact direction. They are actively pursuing this. If his administration can define who is allowed citizenship, we are in really serious trouble.

Expand full comment
Joan the Dork's avatar

It wouldn't take much more than he's already done. He's already making the argument that non-citizens don't have the right to due process- the Constitution says otherwise, but ultimately the Supreme Court gets the final word. The question is only whether or not the Court will support that claim; if they do, then the next step will be developing some scheme to revoke the citizenship (or even just to publicly question it, if the ruling is broad enough) of anyone else he wants to disappear. We already know these Nazis are perfectly willing to fabricate evidence against their targets.
