We need a blue state to declare that a persons real sex actually changes after some condition is met, two years of testosterone suppression and E, or two years of T, and a legal name change. Something like that would make it stop being “gender-affirming” and make it immune to claims of “sex rejecting procedure”
Or some similar set of conditions. It would make trans healthcare about changing our sex again, like it was mostly about before the 2010’s.

Well, my GF is from a place in the world where even to form "breasts" she had to save up a lot of money for collagen implants, though admittedly they look real, but something like estrogen would be very costly to her, she didn't even have a real computer when I met her, just a smartphone, and I hooked her up with a laptop as as a gift because I couldn't believe how she works long hours for almost nothing in pay, from my perspective living in Maryland. I don't know if she wished to seek more GAC or not, but either way it probably wasn't genuinely available to her.

Some nonbinary people get treatment to make it so people can’t tell what the persons birth-sex is. And there’s also vaginoplasty without penis removal. Some take HRT just enough to pass as androgynous

Second, deciding a foreigner's legal sex is a foreign policy decision, and US states doing foreign policy is a touchy subject. I don't know nearly enough about international relations to predict what would happen if, say, New York declared that a UK citizen is now really female, and UK was expected to update that person's UK passport based on New York's decision. This is something that needs to be considered carefully before passing such laws.
On the other hand, it could easily be an improvement over status quo, where changing the gender marker on state or even federal documents is not internationally recognized as a gender change.

This is not about protecting children. It is about politicians taking medical decisions away from parents, patients and healthcare professionals.
And there is an important point we must not forget: states can still choose to provide and fund these services. Some states are already preparing to do exactly that.
We have also seen federal courts push back against earlier attempts by this administration to interfere with medically necessary care for transgender youth. In March, a federal court blocked the administration from threatening hospitals and clinics with the loss of Medicare and Medicaid funding because they provided this care.
I courts must once again stand up for the rule of law, medical freedom and the right of families to make healthcare decisions with their doctors.
Transgender children deserve healthcare, dignity and compassion—not political punishment. We cannot allow bigotry and ideology to replace medical judgment.
One component to investigate further is whether states are allowed to use state-only Medicaid and CHP funding to continue covering gender-affirming treatments (GAT) for youth. If so, which states will do so? In the grand scheme of Medicaid spend on medications, the cost of puberty blockers and hormones for GAT in youth is minuscule.
Also, I am not sure how you would report on this, but are there individual physicians out there who are using a different diagnostic code on the claim so the use of these meds do not appear as GAT? Medications used for GAT in youth are used much more often for other indications.
I hope that Democratic AGs are ready with a lawsuit!!

Bill Hicks said it best, "ANYONE, DUMB ENOUGH" to enlist should be allowed in.
Being aware and staying current with news like this is so important. It impacts all of us. And yet, it can feel overwhelming to many of us to always be under attack - I almost quoted the under attack part but we really are under attack so no need to present it as figurative! And as a therapist, i get overwhelmed and scared too about it. When I do, I take a moment, close my eyes, slow my breathing, and imagine myself in the future. The future where this chapter in history has ended. In this future, for some it’s a distant memory. For new generations it’s an episode in their history books. And I am just having my cappuccino remembering the pain and our endurance to survive and thrive despite the hard times.
The sooner we get this administration out of office, the sooner we save our trans-youth population and ultimately ourselves. We ALL must get out and encourage our allies, our own population, our families, our friends to get to the polls and vote for opponents of the anti-trans politicos. We HAVE to get out and fight.
They will come after all of us.
