I wish Nancy Mace a long vacation from politics. Her defeat is not a loss for the transgender community — it is proof that fearmongering and attacks on vulnerable people do not build a winning future.

But this fight is not over.

The two Republicans heading into the runoff may sound more polished, but they are no better on the issues that matter. They have simply stepped back from making transgender people their headline target because they know the politics are toxic. We should not confuse quieter rhetoric with real moderation.

Voters should remember what this campaign has revealed: too many politicians are willing to use transgender Americans as political props instead of focusing on jobs, healthcare, education, and the cost of living.

Now the goal is clear: defeat the Republican nominee in November. Democrats, Independents, and principled Republicans should turn out and vote for leaders who defend equality, personal freedom, and basic human dignity — not politicians who divide communities for political gain.

Brava, Congresswoman McBride!!

She took every punch they could throw and turned it into a standing ovation!! Happy Pride. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

We ought to cease referring to Congresswoman McBride as “Trans Congresswoman McBride.” It’s a habit that contributes to identifying her under a label that trans-enemies wish to persist as denigrating. We’re just “people”… with professions. “Trans” isn’t a profession.

Mace is finding out that the hatred highway runs both ways. Nice to see McBride hasn’t lost her sense of humor!

Karma just ran over her dogma.

Cue the Nelson Muntz laugh.

Seriously, Mace has a mental/emotional problem, I hope she gets help.

Thank you Erin.

Expect to see Nancy Mace as a Fox News contributing opinion talking head in a month or two.

More like CBS News. Bari Weiss is salivating at the thought of another transphobic talking head.

I hope this speaks well for the possibility of a Democratic becoming governor in S.C.

I absolutely celebrate Nancy Mace's defeat. I'm cautious however. One loss doesn't equate to a tsunami or even a good swell. We have many, many more bigots who need to fall before we even get back to what we had BEFORE. The unfortunate reality we've learned is that any progress we make can be wiped out simply by the whim of a "conservative" state legislature.

Your doubt is wise, since a part - maybe not a major one, but certainly a not inconsiderable one - of her low finish was failing to get The Orange Overlord's support because she opposed him on the Epstein Files.

How true, Mr. Erickson. And isn't it shameful and depressing how far reaching that chronic narcissistic paranoid's reach still is (in spite of felony convictions, sexual assault convictions, tax law violations, questionable associations, moral ambiguity, etc.). But WE'RE the enemy.

It was FDR who said "They are unanimous in their hatred of me, and I welcome their hatred." We can judge ourselves, at least in part, by the nature of those who call us their enemy.

Oh, one other thing: "Mr. Erickson." Ooh, ick. Like Donovan, I regard myself as being on a first-name basis with the world. It's "Larry" or if you'd rather a less-used nickname, "Eric." :-)

Thank you Larry. I love your grasp of history.
