Great. Now. When is she going to walk back (all. the. way.) her pick me accommodationist, we wanted too much, this persecution is all these "trans activists'" fault horseshit?

When will she unapologetically use the ladies room publicly in the Capitol and in front of Johnson's nose?

When will she also represent even the transgender people of her own district?

I'm trans, I have legitimate criticisms of Sarah McBride to this point, and this doesn't invalidate them. But today, we are in step against this threat. If you don't have anything to offer here other than support, I invite you to shut the hell up and call your representative.

Representative Sarah McBride just made my day. What a speech, no notes, no teleprompter and just her heart and convictions. As an ally I watched that video twice. So many talking points we can borrow when engaged in conversations, writing to our legislators or to use as motivation not to give up. I realize my comments are only based on what she said today as most of the time I am not in agreement.

Glad we have her speaking against this. I wish conservatives would just move on.

Unless I missed her saying otherwise, until recently McBride had also said the social conservatives have some kind of good point.

There's a disappointingly large number of socially conservative trans women out there. Blair White, Caitlyn Jenner, etc. I'm still glad that she's doing this now.

To be sure.

"There's a disappointingly large number of socially conservative trans women out there"

Delusionally. When they look up they don't see bus they see blue sky.

It’s more than an obsession with transgender human beings. These disgusting groomers and pedophiles are consumed with lust for their genitals. Seriously. Next thing you know they will issue required transgender clothing with some sort of symbol so they know who is who. Hmmm…that sounds familiar…

I think that's coming as a component of the GOP messaging plan for the midterms, if we're still having them.

Sarah McBride has been capitulating in this issue since she got to Congress. I agree with statements here criticizing her. She’s hasn’t been a leader for our community. She’s been a politician, even supporting candidates who voted to take away trans healthcare. SMH. Now at the 11th hour she has something to say. And we’re suppose to honor that? AOC has been stronger than her. She is nothing to me. Not interested in Sarah McBride at all.

I’ve said this before. Standing against the attacks on transgender Americans is not Sarah McBrides sole burden AND it is ok if she is not the perfect representative. She should be surrounded by other Cisgender representatives. I encourage every transgender person to run for office so that we can have strong representation. I believe it is unfair to demand perfect and not recognize good. Yes! Not excellent! There is a LOT of room for improvement for McBride but compare to Caitlin Jenner.

Agree. And I give her credit for not wasting time and energy getting into a pissing match with diabolical mean girl Nancy Mace.

Glad McBride is speaking out. You would think the Republicans had learned a lesson from the Virginia governor's race. But bigots tend to be dimwits.

Just called Jared Golden's office -- they actually pick up the phone! He serves the red part of northern Maine. But I reminded them that if he voted in favor of those bills, it would definitely haunt him in the southern part of the state, where I live, if he ever hoped to run for statewide office. I think the guy's got a heart, so fingers crossed.

I called my Congressman's office (Jim McGovern, D-MA) and his aide reassured me that Jim has been outspoken against these bills. He is a good guy as politicians go.

These Republican m f..Kers are unbelievable. I just don’t understand what these politicians have against the transgender community do they think that doing this is going make them disappear. The only thing they will accomplish is creating more psychological problems possibly leading to suicides. All they want is to live healthy productive lives like anyone else. I sincerely hope that these politicians take a very hard look at the damage these bills will do if passed. I also hope that we remember all politicians that vote for these bills when it comes time for us to vote

What they have against us is that we break their rigidly defined social binary norms that they were brainwashed into believing and that they want to enforce through the strength of law. Fascists do not believe in grey areas and reduce EVERYTHING to black and white. And that is because their totally simplistic minds cannot handle nuances and the mere existence of trans people shatters their extremely narrow thought process.

Plus there is the obvious religious angle, in that they believe "God does not make trans people" because their "God" is made in their own highly bigoted and narrow minded image. In fact my own religious father railed against me for "defying God's will" when I transitioned, even though I told him that I do not believe in his God and I am an atheist. Well that only made him more angry and I had to cut him out of my life because I will not abide religious bigotry that is founded in ignorance, thank you very much.

I thought McBride's address was excellent and on-point. I have withheld my criticism of her on prior issues, as I can relate to her ethical dilemmas about who she represents. (I have faced similar dilemmas in leadership roles in LGBTQ advocacy.) I think it means a lot that she was standing there with two other Democrats to deliver her message. I think that was necessary, and I am grateful to them for supporting her. Ocasio-Cortez / McBride in 2028. (We can dream, right?)

I guess I need to start calling representatives from the POS wing of the Democratic Party.

The reality is that this bill impacts 0.2% of the population as the 1% number includes adults, who are not impacted by these bills. The reason why they are obsessed with trans kids is because this is a small population that is misunderstood. The legal precedent, however, could be used to allow the government to also ban abortion.

If they can eradicate Trans kiddos they will have proven genocide is possible and have a process for moving forward. It won't stop with Trans children.
