Everybody needs to familiarize themselves with the Ten Stages of Genocide. We are now at Stage 8: Persecution.

The push to ban gender-affirming care for trans youth is not intended to protect children. The push to ban gender-affirming care for trans children is intended to make people feel that adult trans people are monsters.

This “commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one’s personal life,” and “the humility and selflessness required of a service member” apparently doesn’t apply to the commander in chief, the pathological liar, indicted traitor, convicted felon.

Nor does it apply to our new DUI hire, Pete Hegseth, apparently.

This guy is an evil bastard! My fiance is Trans and a veteran who served her nation with honor for ten years - two tours in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan. She was awarded five Army Achievement medals, three Army Commendation medals, and a Presidential Unit Citation from President Bush. This means NOTHING to a spoiled brat who lived and built his empire off of "Daddy's Money."

If your in the military, "We need only butch men, BUTCH MEN".

I think this is just the Heritage foundation flexing their proverbial penis. They feel anyone trans is subhuman.

I think as a whole the united states is much more tolerant then the "Orange Administration". I mean this is a man who sold "Trump Bibles". We know how he feels about respecting women. I think is is par-for course.

We have to rise up. We have to scream against the coming of midnight. Scream like our purveyors before us. We need to imbibe the soul and heart of Sylvia Rivera.

"Do not go gentle into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

This is what Project2025 was all about - even if they don't say it in the executive order - it is all based on fundamentalist Christian beliefs about what is moral and acceptable. Transgender folks have no place in this. LGBTQ folks have no place, etc. I just got off a webinar with GLAD, and this came up - they will fight it in court, of course, but the panelist said the same thing: it is an attempt to dehumanize the trans community, just as it did the gay community in the 1950s.

At first I thought Trump was using the anti-trans lines as part of his "show," since his audience (base) laughed and applauded.

Now I realize that at his core he believes there are 2 narrowly-defined genders: Men who are alpha, who are macho and who dominate, who are entitled and take what they want; and beautiful Women who function as eye-candy, who stroke the alpha male's ego and have no particular identity or needs of their own.

So no doubt his contempt for trans women--in his view, men who not only are not macho, but choose to be the "weaker sex", is at the top of his list of those to be despised. Not far behind would be the rest of the LGBTQ+ community. Then "nasty" women, disabled people, etc. Everyone else.

Not only that but fascists are notoriously hostile to anything and anybody that does not fit within their narrow binary viewpoint.

I don't think he hates us, specifically. I don't think he holds any real beliefs at all other than in his own superiority to everyone else. He'd have targeted 𝘢𝘯𝘺 vulnerable minority he could rally his base against. He doesn't care who he hurts, as long as he gets to hurt 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺; trans folks and immigrants just happened to be at the bottom of the societal pecking order when he rose to power.

Honestly, though... I think that makes it worse.

Trump, and the Republican party in general, don't have any real plans for making America great again - and never have. What they do have is plans for creating hatred for some common enemy that can rally their base and ultimately keep them in power. I think you're right, they don't actually hate trans people, they just love the foaming it creates in their semi-literate Christian nationalist base.

Every cis person I know: don’t panic

Me, watching the speed at which we’re seeing full dehumanization on the executive level: sure is easy for YOU, isn’t it?

Yeah. I was doing a pretty good job at not panicking until today. We need a miracle to pull out of this.

The only hope I can muster is, he's overreacting in so many different ways right now, he's hurting his own people in ways that should become pretty obvious to them pretty quickly. Maybe he'll stall out.

This situation is highly dangerous and unstable, and is not even remotely sustainable. I do not know what will happen. I just know that we need a list (if there are any) of countries that will offer asylum to US trans people under these rapidly deteriorating conditions. It would seem to me that what is going on clearly meets the UN definition of persecution related to gender identity. People need to establish their own comfort levels with various options, obviously. For those that want to flee, under these conditions I don’t know if there is time anymore to seek residence visas, etc. These take time.

Most likely the liberal democracies of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway would be most welcoming. Obviously, the Germanic countries such as Austria, Victor Orban’s Hungary, etc., would not be welcoming to Trans people. I can’t speak to the eastern countries, except maybe Australia and New Zealand.

Except section 8 of the new EO promises an investigation into “female genital mutilation”, which is pretty blatantly referring to top and bottom surgery for trans masc/N-B individuals. Transhobes love calling top surgery “mutilation”.
