Disgusting about the judgeship but it's encouraging to see that she was primaried so effectively!

Greg Abbott has to rank among the worst MAGA governors in the country, and his appointment of Shawn Thierry to a Harris County judgeship is another example of why.

Thierry presents herself as a person of faith, yet her actions raise serious questions about how she applies those religious principles when it comes to the transgender community. She also speaks about fairness and equal justice, but her record on transgender rights makes it difficult to believe that she truly means **equal justice for everyone**.

Let’s not forget that Thierry lost her Democratic primary in 2024 after breaking with her party over anti-trans legislation, including restrictions on gender-affirming care. She subsequently joined the Republican Party and became associated with an organization opposed to gender-affirming care.

And now Abbott has rewarded her with a judgeship.

A judgeship should not be a political consolation prize or a reward for changing parties. It should go to someone who demonstrates an unwavering commitment to fairness, impartiality, and equal justice under the law

Abbott’s appointment sends exactly the wrong message: that political loyalty matters more than the confidence of the people and the principles of equal justice.

The transgender community deserves judges who will protect their rights—not judges whose political record has made them a target of their rights.

When her term ends I hope the people once again vote her out and abbott as well.

It's time for a better Texas

At this point, there's simply no excuse for right-wing dummies purporting to be Christian. If they want to admit that Satanism is their religion, fine, but stop trying to pin this homo/transphobic, racist, sexist, materialistic bullshit on Jesus, it's antithetical to what he stood for, it defies my lifestyle, it's ludicrous. Gov. Abbott is a bad person, and so is this unqualified judge.

Psalm 139:

For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you

when I was made in the secret place,

when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body;

all the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be.

That's a good Psalm to reference here because indeed, trans people are created the same as cis people. Whether one is a believer or not, that's an indisputable fact, God or mother nature has given us that. Do we reject something from nature? Are we living in medieval times, or something? I'm living in the now.

She needs to get out of other people's business.

Governor Abbott is a moral cripple so none of this is out of character.

The ban on transgender athletes in the United States, all 100, or so, of them is really getting tiring. It's also harmful. Not just to trans girls but all girls. Transphobia continues to be weaponized to undermine cisgender women, especially women of color, subjecting them to ridicule, false accusations, and invasive medical examinations. Some of these cisgender women are even banned from competing because they do not conform enough to the ideal.

Texas. Another state I will not travel to at this time. Black Genocide? She conveniently forgets her own history. Forgets? Make that denies. Juneteenth marks the day on June 19, 1865, when Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the last enslaved people in the state were free.
