I have always admired Maine's implementation of ranked choice voting. I wonder if the sanity follows doing sane things? Or if it's that intelligent choices beget intelligent choices? Or intelligent choices allow intelligent actions? I feel like Mainers are just smarter than, say Carolinians (where I'm living at present), or Texas, or Florida.
Did they have ranked choice voting for LePage? That guy was Trump before Trump. I’m still undecided about ranked choice since it gave us Eric Adams in NYC. To be fair, we have a history of voting in complete shitbags sometimes, so it’s highly possible we would have voted him in anyway.

I wish I was that confident. "I’m complying with state and federal laws." is a pretty weak-ass liberal response, tbh, when the Supreme Court is captured and could change the interpretation of those federal laws overnight — as it did for Roe vs Wade and other cases.
I guess we're lucky Trump digs more legal holes for himself every time he opens his mouth (including this time), but that depends on cases *not* getting to the Supreme Court, and also that the fascists fail to get through changes that would allow them to pick "conservative" (i.e. fascism-compliant) judges for every case.
I would be a lot happier if any US politician made it clear they were going to fight fascism period, without mentioning the law.
Despite some negative outcomes and pessimism over SCOTUS, the courts are the bulwark holding the line for democracy right now. NGOs are in the best position to file lawsuits, but states have the most resources, so every smidgen of support we can offer to the leaders is well spent!

If would have been fantastic if other Governors would lave voiced support for the Governor Mills. Better yet if after that threat they all got up and walked out.

Simple solution to Trump's threats of pulling all federal funding from blue states that do not cooperate with illegal immoral unconstitutional GOPMAGA dictates and Führerbefehlen.
All blue states but one pay more in federal taxes than they receive in federal funding and spending.
Every red state but Texas receives more in federal funding than it pays.
Obvious option:
Blue states remit zero funds to the MAGA regime. They accept zero. Blue states can use the difference to increase education spends and decrease blue state deficits.
Red states can go frack themselves unto death, no more blue state largesse.
Game, set, match.

He went through Army training first before injuring himself. They kicked him out. He clawed his way back in. Even now considering switching branches. Back to the group that tossed him aside. Something his mom would absolutely do. 🫤
