It's the fact that they pass them regardless of the fact that the people they are supposed to represent are in extreme opposition to them. Republicans hopefully end up shooting themselves in the foot when they continue to show how obstinately they want to ignore facts.

But then again, these politicians are making laws based on faith, not fact. Faith is a powerful motivator....

They're not even making them on faith. This isn't Christianity. Christ said to love your neighbor. Christ said make sure people have enough to eat and a place to sleep. Christ told about the Good Samaritan - Samaritans were an entirely different religion - and how the priest & Levite (both Jewish) who were the same faith as the traveler passed him by -- a parable that points out it's how you act towards your fellow person, not your purported faith, that God will pay attention to. Funny thing is, I'm very firmly agnostic. Yet I seem to know more about Christianity than these dunderheads.

Oh I know all too well. I have read the whole Bible and studied it extensively prior to coming out in 2023

Somebody needs to do a poll on how the anti trans youth laws/bills/media barrage affect the mental of trans adults because if I use myself as an example, its not good.

I mean, same. It really hurts to see the kids being forced to go through what I went through as a kid, especially after they were able to actually access it. Plus we all know the adults are next on the chopping block.

To add, I'm not saying instead of the youth. Obviously it affects them as a first hand threat, I just see that Trevor Project stat thrown around all the time by allies and wish they knew we are all suffering.

I do, as an adult, feel overlooked with the emphasis on trans kids. But they are on the front lines and we will be next, so maybe I should appreciate feeling overlooked, for now.

I do think we take the majority of the hate online though. Most of the anger seems directed at the people that are “grooming” trans kids.

“Despite significant opposition, the subcommittee approved the bill”

They are the anti-fact, anti-science party and they serve their rich donors and their religion over actual voters

How do they sleep at night? Have they no shame? Of course not

It's like facts, decency and existing law don't matter . It's like public support doesn't matter. It's like hate is the point and it's amazing how much busier the state legislatures are versus our current House of Representatives in DC.

Always go into battle fully armed. We (my care coordinator at Affirmations LGBTQIA+ Community Center, and I) are seeking to arm me with data and reports of transgender deaths on the East side of Detroit, which is where my PO wants to place me in a male halfway house for a marijuana violation. If anyone knows where we can find such data, please let me know.

Peer reviewed research and science and the opinions of virtually every medical group in the U.S. matter little when the bias and hate created by religion, our bought and paid for politicians who are intentionally ignorant and have little interest in anything but getting re-elected. Moneyed interests and conservative christian nationalists have caused our system to fail in so many areas, it is quite disheartening. Stand by for heavy waves if we re-elect that narcissistic demagogue ex-President.

The sad fact - as is alluded to in the article - is that nothing seems to make a difference at this point. No studies, facts, testimony, or even public reaction seem to sway anything. GOP legislators in red states are absolutely determined to enact the worst possible anti-trans legislation, and there is no stopping point. The only realistic hope at this point - a dwindling hope, but still sort of intact for now - is that this fascism won’t spread to the blue states and the federal government.

Just wondering, can these children access GAC via telehealth and mail-order from providers in blue states?

Anyway, it's past time to start a Rainbow Railroad to aid individuals and families fleeing shithole states. I'm happy to do what I can to help. Also, I will simply refuse to set foot in or do business with any company in a shithole state.

PA is pretty decent. I live in Pittsburgh and we are a sanctuary city for gender affirming care, and lots of places provide GAC in the Pittsburgh area. We have a Democratic Governor and a 5-2 Democratic majority on the state Supreme Court, and the legislature is divided, so the Rethugs have no chance of getting any anti-trans stuff through.

Phillip Ford is amazing. EVERYONE who drove to Columbia, SC to testify - in inclement weather - was against this bill. They just had Matt Sharp phone it in... 47 people testified against the bill, and one for it... they guy who helped write it.

The Alliance Defending Freedom???? Who's freedom? Their freedom to oppress others? The only religion the Republicans care about is money and power.
