I’ll never understand this. “The president called me a slur for trans folk, let me show how I am exactly like him and that’ll help me win!” Like the fuck lmao

Why. The. F--k. Is it so hard for Democrats to simply say what is known to be real about transgender people and defend that?

Did she really think the GOP's "Trannie Andrews" ads were working, and that she is somehow triangulating?

"she stated that Rep. Nancy Mace “was willing to just throw this population under the bus to score political points,” seemingly pointing out the same kind of cowardice she herself is now engaging in."

WTF is going on in her head?

Thank you for the reporting, Mrs. Reed.

When people show you who they are believe them.

Erin, thank you so much for reporting this. I’m a SC resident and was a big Andrews stan until now. Bought a sub to your newsletter instead of donating to her. I can’t believe she joined the ranks of everyone else hurting an innocent population for NO reason.

These people want our money and our votes, but they have a funny way of 'supporting trans youth'

Our kids are not fodder for political gain. Our trans loved ones deserve love, respect, safety, and proper care. Just like every other human.

I honestly struggle to understand Democrats who are willing to compromise away protections for the transgender community.

Do they not understand the physical and mental harm that political attacks and restrictions can cause to transgender people and their families? And when physicians—people who spent years being educated and trained to care for patients—support political restrictions on medical decisions, I have to ask: where does medicine end and political calculation begin?

I understand that politicians want to win elections. But if gaining political power requires sacrificing the rights and well-being of a vulnerable community, what exactly are we gaining?

And there is another question we need to ask: if Democrats become divided on protecting transgender Americans today, will we still have the political support necessary to pass stronger protections tomorrow?

This cannot simply be about winning the next election. It has to be about protecting people's ability to live, receive appropriate medical care, and make deeply personal decisions with their families and doctors—not politicians.

These people literally just do not care what harm they cause. Their positions on things are just a means to an end. That end being power and enrichment for themselves.

What a disheartening era we live in...

Thank you, pediatrician Dr. Annie Andrews, for telling us exactly who you are.

In contrast:

“The emotional and psychological trauma of rejection, whether by family, friends, society, or lawmakers, can leave scars that never heal. When we fail to accept people for who they are, we pass painful judgements on them and create so much unnecessary emotional and psychological pain.” – Moira Szilagyi, MD, PhD, FAAP, 2022 president of the American Academy of Pediatrics

And this is a "pro science" candidate. So depressing. I requested a refund through ActBlue which was denied... now trying to go through the campaign directly.

Smh, what a vile person she is. But I never had faith in these people. The goal was to have “common ground” with the right, and this is it.

Darlene Graham literally answered a debate question about national security and China by saying, “I don’t know.”

Backstabbing Annie Andrews has a bigger problem than trans people if she’s losing her election to someone as shamefully unqualified as Darlene Graham.

Oh, goodie. When the party we thought would be safer starts to hint that we should just shamble off, pull the Big Switch, and announce “We belong… dead!”, well, what’s a poor Frankensteinisn monster to do?

I’ve got my bugout kit packed, and am well prepared 2nd Amendment-wise, but most of the trans population isn’t as privileged as this old woman.

How do we survive the next round of Monster and Villagers when they pick up the tiki torches and pitchforks?

The treachery of such revelations is becoming tiresome. I get that politics is called a "game", but we're dealing with REAL people's lives. Once the elections are over, I expect to hear all of these folks claim that they "really didn't mean it" and that they "have ALWAYS been a friend to the trans community". I don't buy it. Political expedience for a candidate would be to merely ignore the epithets thrown at them. COURAGE would be to actually respond that "Yes, I am a supporter, and what is wrong with that?" I no longer expect to see courage.

Shit. Again. And these are our "friends."

I am trying decide if she might be lying to get elected, then she will do the right thing. It would be hard to reconcile this, but it is the Republican playbook. They lie then do whatever they want. Don't know how I would feel if she did do this lying to get elected, then she became sane again. Talk about hard choices as a voter. Sure glad I don't live in SC for a million reasons.

I called her office and they hung up me. So, an email it is.
