Demonstrators argue that hospitals should stand as a bulwark against Trump and should care for all of their patients, rather than comply without a fight.
The protests on Feb 5 were in part coordinated through this Google docs spreadsheet. There is a tab for February, March, April etc. all the way through August. There aren't any other dates posted yet but it looks like the intention is to put others out there -
But women. Let's not forget women. They have covered over the names on women on walls of honor that received commendation. Using the term "women" in research grant applications will cause a denial.
They moved quickly from trying to erase us to trying to erase more than half the nation.
My cis friends haven't heard this yet when I share it. And are furious when they find out.
(I saw it on LinkedIn, where there was an actual photograph of the covered exhibits. Quick search didn't yield a link with the photo, but it can probably be found.)

We just received an official memo from the True Center here at Children's Hospital of Colorado. They are suspending all care other than therapy for transgender minors. My child has an appointment she's been waiting for since 2023 with them next week. I'm furious and will absolutely make sure my voice is heard by the leadership of the hospital and their donors. They are sacrificing my child to save their funding.
In case you didn't see it in Erin's post yesterday, the ACLU and Lambda Legal have filed a lawsuit challenging Trump's EO about gender affirming care for under 19.
I am extremely happy to hear about the protests. Trump and his white supremist friends are behind this awful era in our country. I guess there are people that really want to look inside of people's pants. They need to get a life and leave LGBT people alone! It is none of their business.
Thank you for incredible reporting. Seeing reports on all these efforts gathered into one piece is inspiring and motivating.
It's disturbing that additional NY hospitals are caving to this toothless EO after Tish James warned that healthcare facilities have a duty to continue to provide care and Trump's order doesn't supercede that.
FINALLY! This is the kind of thing we need more of, don't stop everybody! Organize, pull other organizations together, get socialist groups, women's groups, unions, and anybody else you can find. This isn't only a fight for trans rights, it's a fight for ALL the rights that oppressive fascist regimes want to take away.
I'm so happy to see unions involved, that was a strategy that worked really well for Harvey Milk and the Gay Liberation movement in the 70s. If you're young and you don't know much about it, go find some podcasts and/or watch "Milk." Learn about the tactics queer people used to stop the wave of homophobic laws in the 70s, because they were really effective.
Hell yes 👏 Hospital systems have to feel the pressure, especially non-profits who are supposed to be putting resources INTO the community, not removing them.
Is there a strategy in place to protect doctors from arrest and imprisonment? With so many Christian nationalist judges in place, wouldn't doctors be taking a huge risk even with orders that clearly appear to be unconstitutional to us?
If that were to happen, I think that the ACLU and Lambda Legal would come to the doctors defense. And as a community we should be prepared to launch and support goFundMe campaigns to help them with secondary costs from the life disruption.
There are judges who could be problematic but also a lot of good judges. Biden appointed more judges in his term, than Trump did. And the most of the judges appointed earlier than that, even the republican appointees, in other cases have usually be pretty skeptical of Trump's nonsense.
But, that's still an awful experience to go through. It certainly takes bravery in this moment to stand against oppression and any doctors who do so are heroes.
Can you provide information about the protests before they happen so we can participate?

JD Vance, Peter Thiel…just two examples…do not think women should have an equal role to men. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/08/jd-vance-women-weird-voting-peter-thiel.html

CHLA is at 4630 W. Sunset Blvd...unless the domonstration is purposely down the street - but it looks like number transposition in the post.
Meet at 5:30 at Sunset and Edgemont (about 4 blocks west of CHLA) then march to CHLA, speakers/rally begin at about 6pm. RSVP for more info: https://actionnetwork.org/events/protect-trans-kids-2
Can anyone share ongoing protest actions taking place at these hospital so we can continue to support?

These were at state capitols, so it's not quite what you asked for but may be a useful resources as things unfold.
We would have to coordinate with other people under attack, immigrants, federal workers, to make the protests really massive
Now I hope a lot o people will prostest again his insane plan to turn Gaza into Puerto Rico
Seattle Children's hospital has joined in on this travesty.

Thank you, Erin. 💜
AGs in states with GAC protective laws need to hold these hospitals directly responsible for what they are doing.
Yes!
New York AG just threatened hospitals yesterday, stating they are violating state law.

Love to see this! I won’t be back in NYC until next week but I want to participate in any future events going forward!
