And there you have it! Vindication. Sounds like people are turning away from the far right vilification of our LGBTQIA2S+ community. Maybe they’re realizing that all human beings just want to live their lives in peace and have opportunities to live, work, and play while being their authentic selves. I certainly hope so.
I do believe we are seeing the fever break — outside of a rabid minority, people are realizing that trans issues largely aren't relevant.
Of course, I would prefer that people care about trans issues on the side of trans people, but from where we are at now, mass apathy could be an improvement.
And now it will be those kids, the ones that get removed from class, that will feel ostracized. It will really put a spotlight on which families are filled with hate so the whole world can see who they are.
Good story!! Thanks. These parents hoping to "protect" their children from common knowledge are.....how to put this nicely?......not very smart. "Mommy, what is it you don't want me to know about?"
Umm my religion is anti math. Can I opt out of math? In fact in my religion the only acceptable films are Hedwig, Brokeback Mountain and surprisingly Fast and the Furious 7. I just do what the prophet says, unlike Heather who watched the Princess Diaries. I’m going to be the master’s favorite now bitch
Awesome points! I want to be reassured by this. But this % sounds close to the % of trans athletes in female sports, and I expect it to matter just as much. It’s like the % of people under 18 *actually* having srs.
iow, the right is going to make those 43 families seem like 43 million families. The cult won’t think twice about believing it. I hope I’m wrong though!
Just put those kids in a room with a Bible. Have them write an essay on Genesis, Chapters 19-22. Good wholesome stuff that! I'm sure the kids won't have any awkward questions!
Interesting information. Yes, there may end up being backlash on the children for the decision their parents made. I certainly hope not but I wouldn't be surprised. The wrong people are caught in the middle. As for disruption in the classes, I would think that yes it will cause some but with that small of a number it couldn't be that much. Just give them a different book to read and report on or whatever and move on.
This just shows that society has moved on from the past. It is the regressive minority who are pushing their agenda and the wealthy elite who want to keep people distracted while they get richer.
Positive news?! Wow, refreshing. Happy to hear how Montgomery is spotlighting how much of a non-problem LGBTQ+ is, and that it's purely manufactured by people who want control.
It is so strange to hear I don't exist... I have paid taxes since I first starting working part time back in 1963 and continue to this day... Glad that some people think this as strange as I do and want their kids to grow up with an open, well-educated mind...
"When contrasted with the minuscule number of families opting out when given the choice, these policies look less like a reflection of public will and more like a top-down morality ban—one that would almost certainly be rejected if parents actually had the freedom to decide for themselves."
It's unconscionable that this is all happening in America driven by a tiny minority trying to impose a xenophobic way of life on all of America. Then these bigots have the gall to oppress our tiny minority, trans people, and try to erase us from cultural life as a distraction from the nakedly oppressive policies. Just horrid and we must keep speaking out while we still have free speech.

I would love more people to be supportive of trans rights but I will accept "It's not my business."
I don’t really give a fuck if people don’t want me to exist I obviously do. That being said, get fucked you noners

Outrage manufactured by weal republican politicians.
"Only 0.03% Opt Out Of LGBTQ+ Education In Maryland After SCOTUS Gives Them A Right To"
Well, yes. There is no actual problem in existence for such a right being recognized to resolve.

Good job to 99.97% of Montgomery County parents!

Why can’t the Supreme Court’s ruling apply to GLBTQ students in red states, and allow these students to have their own special classes?
