The movie 'Shakespeare in Love' would be banned there, too, based on their BS parameters (and so many other movies, TBH). It has one of my favorite lines:

"That woman... is a WOMAN!"

And bravo to the students and community for supporting their GoFundMe and making sure that the show must go on.

Ironically, the co-writer of that film, Tom Stoppard, is a conservative who endorsed one of those "JKR's free speech is under attack" letters.

Glad they didn't give up. Oklahoma is a wasteland but there are plenty of venue that don't depend on government funding to support LGBTQ artists. I would love to see their play. I have thoroughly enjoyed every LGBTQ theater production I've seen.

The insanity of this is traditionally ALL Roles in Shakespeare's plays were portrayed by males, as females were not allowed to act!

I've been alive for a very long time and I have NEVER encountered any demographic who is as insecure as right-wing "masculinity" Where does all their fear come from?

So glad this is working out for them and that they aren’t too scared to continue in light of the current fascist regime 😞

The irony is just .. wow. So the pericis white antichristians don’t know that in the time the plays were written for, the law required them to be performed this way.

For those who don’t know, the English were as kooky and creepy about gender then as the pedo party is now, except it manifested as an arbitrary belief that it was immoral for women to perform onstage.

These wannabe Victorian woolites don’t even know anything about the people they try and fail to emulate! It’s just pathetic.
