Just lobbied at the hill yesterday urging our elected officials to vote no on the reconciliation bill, which would be detrimental to all trans folks. Good to hear that staffers didn’t give the terfs good feedback. Disappointed but not surprised that NY didn’t respond. Ty for the updates Erin!

I could see Schumer meeting with them because as we all know, he has the spine of an earthworm. Kirsten Gillibrand, however, has a better record on trans rights (if I'm not mistaken, please correct me if I'm wrong) and there are shitloads of trans and NB people in New York State (including yours truly) so if what the Hill reports is true, I could see this becoming a scandal for her and unlike Chucky, she doesn't have the burden of a leadership position.

Completely agreed- I met with Schumer’s staff a year ago and his office is covered with photos of himself. Most selfish spineless office i’ve ever entered. Agreed on it being a potential controversy for Gillibrand- I’ve even met with her throughout past years and told her my transition story. As a trans person in NYC too, I can see there being pushback on her and hopefully we can continue to organize together as a community! 🫶🏽

Just a bunch of rotten, bigoted garbage dressed up as feminism. That this group has a connection to a bunch of rabidly bigoted christian supremacists comes as no surprise.

With a name like "WoLF," it doesn't take much of a scratch. More of a wink and a nudge, really. The fuckers are barely even trying to give themselves plausible deniability, anymore.

"Terrible extra regressed females" are now going by the group "wombmen offing liberties & freedoms"?

Just think without the patriarchy rule telling them who to hate, I mean besides themselves, they could be helping make the world a better place.

I forget where I first saw it (I 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to say on Pervert Justice, in its FTB iteration, yonks and yonks ago... but don't quote me on that), but there's also FARTs- Feminism Appropriating Radical Transphobes. It's dead accurate, if nothing else.

A bunch of alternate acronyms have been suggested. Also FIRs, which I think stood for Feminist-Identifying Reactionaries.

I think it's all just for laughs. The term 'TERF' is widely used and has such negative connotations that they pretend it's a slur, I don't think we seriously need an alternative

Can we believe Dems? Can any Trans Americans believe them? I don't trust them at all. They're spineless and have already betrayed us dozens of times through outright abandonment, compliance, inaction, or silence to the murderous MAGAts.

Look at Colin Allred, Gavin Newsom, Tom Suozzi, John Fetterman, and dozens of other Dems. They don't have our backs. Neither Biden nor Harris EVER spoke up for us during the campaign. Trump mentioned us over 600 times from August to November of 2024, Harris NOT ONCE.

I'm bitterly disillusioned with them.

Dems are not going to save us.

Nobody is going to save us.

The cavalry IS NOT COMING TO OUR RESCUE!!!

We have to save ourselves, by any means necessary.

I spit on the Dems. They can go to hell.

Better to lobby the Dems than to spit on them.

Voice of experience: When an organization wants to lobby an office, they find a constituent within their ranks to represent. Then that lawmaker is obligated to meet with the constituent and her/his entourage. It's quite possible that's how these folks are getting through the door.

Also voice of experience: It is rare indeed for a lawmaker's staff to refuse to meet with someone.

We just need to put on our lobbying duds and go to Washington to tell our own stories and to debunk the WoLF lies. Same as it's always been.

Dems have done nothing.

They can't even highlight stopping the GOP from eradicating us as a Dem policy objective.

They won't even say our name, except for AOC, Jasmine Crockett, and a handful of others. They're increasingly voting with Republicans and helping to pass anti-Trans bills.

I'm not interested in repeating the same behavior over and over expecting different results.

I have nothing for them.

I'm not donating, canvassing, campaigning, or voting for Dems until they do something tangible and meaningful.

I'm not going to hold my breath.

I'm just DONE.

Clearly it can’t be true because all of these politicians have great track records vocally and politically supporting trans people all the time….. FML

Chris Van Hollen has proven that he has a strong spine on other issues with a far higher political price such as immigration (he proved Kilmar Abrego García was still alive and secured his release) and Gaza, it would just seem *weird* to show courage on those issues and suddenly be a Schumeresque wimp when it came to trans issues…

Believe me, it’s not weird to see a democrat abandon trans people. Gavin Newsome being one. It happens all the time. when the fulcrum of the argument is “the real problem is anti semitism” (it’s not, it’s fascism using Jews as a shield) then politicians will surrender on issues like trans rights because they wrongly believe it’s a share of the pie and not simply an equitable amount of rights.

I think you misunderstood my argument. Of course it's not weird to see a democrat politician abandon trans people. I was talking about Chris Van Hollen in particular because he went against the bullshit advice from dem consultants that always lose them elections. And Van Hollen voted over and over again to ban weapons to Israel, so I don't see what point you're trying to make. It's one thing when capitulating gladhands like Newsom, Schumer, or Fetterman abandon us trans people; I would expect that. I just don't think Chris Van Hollen would.

I agree there, some Dem politicians can back up their talk with actions.

But we have seen how quickly dems will abandon the marginalized to please corporate donors.

Technically you can make an appointment with your representative/senator office. I did so a long time ago to lobby ending discrimination against fat people. Meet a staffer who shook my hand and smiled. And then nothing happened. Except of course my rep was Anthony Weiner.

That being said, I subscribed to Erin bc I don't trust dems to protect Trans folks.

Deep breath, people! As an activist with decades of experience lobbying lawmakers - and even specializing in lobbying REPUBLICAN lawmakers, I can assure you that meeting with citizen lobbyists is hardly an endorsement of their cause. If it were, then we'd have had near-unanimous votes on our issues wherever I have been!

What it does mean is that WoLF is hitting Capitol Hill and spreading their anti-trans lies there. That means that we must do the same. I've found it is very easy to debunk lies with TRUTH from high-quality sources like UCLA's Williams Institute (e.g. debunking the bathroom predator myth). Then what remains is whether they are willing to ignore the truth you have shown them to vote against you anyway - because they don't really give a crap about you or other trans people. Mostly this is a "following orders" or "voting as you're told" thing done by Republicans. Unfriendly Democrats are quite persuadable, as it is easier to support the party platform than not. They simply need the talking points to defend their legislative actions to constituents (which is why we must arm them with those talking points).

The WoLF folks are pretty brazen/stupid to show their cards in this manner. Knowledge is power, and they're giving us knowledge. The best thing we can do, rather than to brow-beat these Democratic offices, is to ask them to share with us what the WoLF lobbyists are telling them and ESPECIALLY to share any materials WoLF leaves behind! Then the trans community can follow up with material and arguments DIRECTLY DEBUNKING all the crap their offices and (let's be realistic) many, many other offices have heard/received from WoLF.

We should not be worried that these offices are meeting with WoLF. That's in their job description. We should only be worried if these offices don't also get our side of the argument (which, let's face it, is the TRUTHFUL side and therefore easier to argue and accept).

That doesn’t sound like something Abby would do. Her need for vengeance is purely focused on one person. I also feel like it would be hard to be an anti trans group in Seattle. WLF has real strong ties to Seattle so I don’t believe this. Now they are pretty anti-prophet though. Hmmm
