They also want to claim the brain is not through developing until the mid 20s. That is wrong too. There is brain study put online recently. They divided the brain phases like this:
0-9 child brain
9-32 puberty brain
32-66 adult brain
66-82? aging brain
82?- super aging brain
If brain does not finish developing until 32 and they think you can’t make good decisions until brain is finished growing even gender affirming care then by arguement you should not have minimum age of 32 for military too. You might make bad combat decisions. Your brain is not finished growing. They are digging their own grave with this arguement.
Exactly. Every trans person who went through the wrong puberty and transitioned as an adult will tell you how brutal it is to go through, and how we wish we could have transitioned when we were young. Most of us knew we wanted to as a child or young teen, and it almost always is obvious by the time puberty begins. That feeling doesn't change, and blockers are reversible. A decision age which coincides with insurance actuary tables and not any other measure of adulthood is blatant corruption.
as a trans texan unfortunately still trapped in texas, i am horrified at what is happening in my state. We should really normalize calling the "republican" party The Fascist Party, because thats clearly what theyve become under these rules. Extreme government overreach, silencing of minority groups, and threats of political violence towards any opposition. We live in very dark times.
Has the 1st Amendment been revoked?? Seems to me that several of these "planks" violate the free speech provisions of the Constitution. Not that R's particularly care about the Constitution.
When the initial EO came out with 19 as the number, it was clear that it was an intentionally arbitrary age that was intended to further infantilize adults and question what bodily autonomy is. IIRC 26 is the age that parental insurance for dependents stops.
Texas is just North American Afghanistan at this point.
You can’t seriously think Republicans care about their blatant hypocrisy. We all know freedom of religion means the legal ability for Christians to discriminate against all LGBTQ folks and non-Christians. “Free speech” means their freedom to control what others say. And “parental rights” means the right of White Nationalist Christian parents to tell all other parents what their kids can and cannot do or learn.
We need to continue to watch carefully what is going on in Texas. This is a trial balloon for the nation. I'm sure Paxton had a lot to do with helping the GOP craft this cruel piece of garbage legislation. It is not lost on me that Paxton's next move if he wins the U.S. Senate will be to run for president, where he would definitely roll out these draconian evil policies everywhere.
The new Texas Republican Party platform, particularly Planks 116 through 203(c), is yet another reminder that many of the state's Republican leaders have abandoned any claim to moral leadership when it comes to the treatment of LGBTQ+ people. The rhetoric and policies they continue to promote send a clear message that LGBTQ+ Texans are not welcome, not equal, and not deserving of the same rights and dignity as everyone else.
For years, these Bigoted,Racist, politicians have wrapped themselves in the language of faith and morality while ignoring some of the most fundamental teachings they claim to cherish—compassion, mercy, humility, and treating others as you would wish to be treated. Instead, they have chosen division, fear, and political scapegoating.
Officials such as Ken Paxton and others who champion these policies should ask themselves what legacy they are leaving behind. History has rarely been kind to those who use the power of government to marginalize vulnerable communities for political gain.
LGBTQ+ people are not going away. They are our family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and fellow citizens. No platform plank, law, or political campaign can erase their existence or their humanity.
One day, future generations will look back on these efforts and ask why so many elected officials spent so much time targeting people who simply wanted to live their lives openly and safely. When that day comes, those who promoted discrimination will have to answer for the choices they made and the harm they caused. The measure of any society is how it treats those with the least political power, and on that measure, Texas's leadership has failed badly.
I suspect their next step will be raising the voting age to 26, if they're going to take away people's personal medical decisions until they're 26.
Personally, I'd like to see Texas GTFO of the U.S. and create their own uber christo-controlled Handmaid's Tale country with the other red anti-human states. My name for it is THE RED BLOB.
The state already has hand-picked ultra reich-wing Federal judges which the D.C. regime and other states work overtime to have all their court cases moved to the Texas district with a judge that ignores the Constitution and votes pure Heritage Foundation/Project 2025/MAGA.
I don't think the U.S. can be saved. Why? Because when I was young, we thought of the U.S.S.R. as this massive monolith, that behemoth, ever-present adversary that would always be there. We laughed at its surveillance society, "the walls have ears, you know" (now we all have tracking devices in our back pockets, but I digress). In our wildest dreams we could not have imagined it not existing. Yet, where is it today? For nearly 30 years I have been saying the same about the U.S.
I also don't think Texas (and the other red blob states) can be saved. HOWEVER, I hear you, and agree that saving the transgender children of Texas and other red states is a MUST. Just as the underground railroad helped ferry slaves from the south to freedom in Canada, so, too, must we create and develop a similar way for trans kids and their familites to escape the Red blob who wants to genocide all of them, as well as the trans adults living there.
I'm just saying, even if you get all the trans kids out of Texas, in a few years, there will be hundreds more. I don't believe in abandoning red states, because if you just let them go, there will be victims.
Where the f do they *get off* dictating to *private businesses* how and who they do or do not support? Oh, wait--they get off on cruelty. I forgot for a second.
But seriously, shouldn't this set off all sorts of resistance from All 'Murrican Texan types who don't want the gubmint in their business? A fight to the finish I'd like to see...
Meanwhile, why can't they just live and let live. Sorry, I went to fantasyland for a moment; it won't happen again.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, is there any feasibility of creating some sort of fund to help transgender people move out of Texas and Florida?
This stands to figure in the State known to be the largest consumer of Trans porn per capita in the country.
This is so disturbing!!! This hate seems endless and ruthless. Thank you for bringing awareness to it.
I have no doubt they picked age 26 since that is age kids get kicked off their family plans
Good catch! I missed that. Bet you anything you are correct.

Not to mention voting age...but we *know* arrested development has been dictating voting decisions in TX for decades...

I'm with Artur! Sending good juju to you and all the kind, humane and sane Texans.
Sending you a hug from afar. Hang in there.
Texas needs to come to its senses and vote blue, blue, blue. Otherwise it's not a safe state to inhabit.
Has the 1st Amendment been revoked?? Seems to me that several of these "planks" violate the free speech provisions of the Constitution. Not that R's particularly care about the Constitution.
Texas Republicans are evil!!
Honestly, are there any who aren't?
They're just trying to get a head start.
Disgusting… these people are driven by fear of anyone who is not like them.

203(a) and (c) are contradictory statements. Prohibiting transgender supporting businesses is contradictory to the First Amendment.

No, because transgender children will continue to be born in Texas. Texas needs to be saved, not abandoned.

HOLY CRAP. I hate those guys.
