LB732 continues the effort to block access to medically recognized gender-affirming care for young people, overriding families and doctors with political mandates.
LB731 goes even further by threatening health care providers with legal punishment simply for offering established, evidence-based treatment — a move designed to intimidate doctors and drive care out of our state.
This is not about safety. It is not about protecting children. It is about using state power to single out a small, vulnerable group of people and make their lives harder, less safe, and less free.
Government should not be inserting itself between patients, parents, and physicians. It should not be encouraging suspicion and confrontation in public spaces.
And it should not be passing laws that make entire groups of Nebraskans feel unwelcome in their own communities.
These bills damage Nebraska’s reputation, discourage medical professionals from practicing here, and send a message that some residents are less worthy of dignity and legal protection than others.
