“Transgender youth deserve to live freely, safely and authentically, with access to the care that allows them to thrive,” said Megan Peterson, executive director at Gender Justice. “Across America, their rights are under attack, and too many institutions are choosing to abandon them rather than protect them. We will not.”

This is such a powerful message ✊🏳️‍⚧️

Thank you for your reporting on this! I live in Minnesota, and I think for folks who aren't directly impacted there's a false sense of security and lack of awareness since we're in a blue state.

I am a patient at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. Essentia has driven good doctors away to practice their good medicine elsewhere, be it corporate demands on patient loads or antiquated rules from their close association with St. Mary’s a catholic hospital which was bought out be Essentia. Many Essential facilities will not allow a woman to have her tubes tied. The statues of Mary and the crucfixes are make me shudder.

I am fortunate to have found another supportive doctor in the system after they drove away my first Essentia doctor. I guess I stay with them and Essentia if it supports them in their advocacy for treating adults who are transgender.

Corporate takeover of our health systems is a bane on all of us, even our more conservative friends. The only thing that might make them look less bad is the fact that they are not overtly religious in their outlying clinics where I see my good doctor.

This is another example of why we need Keith Ellison to win the AG election

No one should have to go to court to be able to access the health care they need to survive. That Essentia stopped this care in a state with strong human rights protections and — without informing patients — is completely dishonorable. Why would a health care clinic harm its patients this way? I am glad Gender Justice and this family are fighting back for us.

What is happening in Minnesota, where Essentia Health has canceled transgender patients’ care without notice, is deeply disturbing. Other healthcare systems have taken similar actions, apparently in response to threats from the Trump administration, despite state laws intended to protect access to this care. This is happening far too often, and it cannot become the new normal. Patients should never have to fear losing medically necessary care because of political pressure. I applaud this individual for standing up and taking action, not only on his own behalf but hopefully to protect others who may find themselves in the same situation. Silence only allows these abuses to continue. We need to stand up, speak out, and hold these institutions accountable.

The medical community is not honoring their oath to “Do no harm” when they remove care from any human being.

When the trans-obsessed bigots have been removed from office and hopefully from power of any significance, these doctors must be held accountable for this shameful dereliction of duty.

We’ve voted early, and in-person. Get bizzy!!
