Funny that they call it a “medical issue” when it’s convenient for them.

Monthly compensation for discharge under VA disability???

Kayla's avatar

Being that this regime has essentially declared all out war against us, I seriously doubt they will get any kind of compensation. More than likely a general discharge or if they really want to be A-Holes a dishonorable.

IIRC, the original EO or an implementing DoD order implied that gender dysphoria would not be an eligible condition for VA disability.

So, it's debilitating enough of a Condition to warrant Discharge, but not enough so to warrant compensation for the debilitating condition? Hello, Dept of contradictions?

I noticed that too.

It is, especially considering the discharge process they are using for this is an administrative separation vs a medical discharge.

… and all because “Real Men™” in the MAGA cult are afraid they might fall for a transwoman “on accident” and become mortified snowflakes or accused of being gay. It’s just another potentially deadly homophobic response from the “Real Men™” who are really just scared little boys. Pathetic.

They are going back to before “ Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” with this strategy. Back then, they asked you to sign a form that you weren’t gay, that you didn’t have gay tendencies, and that you hadn’t had any “homosexual” experiences. Then when they had evidence to the contrary or you came out, they used your “falsifying” information on that federal form to kick you out. Read my story here before it’s gone and other LGBTQIA+ who fought this shit before AND WON. And we will do it again!

DADT had nothing to do with trans people. We continued to be banned under the Medical Standards for Military Service even years after DADT was eliminated because transsexualism (the ICD term for being trans btw) was listed as a "paraphilia" by the military. Maybe if cis gays stopped colonizing trans history and experience and imposing their own over it then more people would know that.

During WWII, all the women enlisting got psych evals that asked things like, “Have you ever thought of making love with a woman?”, “Would you like to suck on a woman’s breast?” This was pretty effective at culling out the young, naive, inexperienced babydykes from the country, but the ones from the city, who’d been living “in the life” for a while knew how to answer. I think now, anybody with any inkling that they’re trans will know how to answer.

For a little more modern historical background, if you can access the NYT (I know, eeeuw), look up an article from 2000 titled “An Inconvenient Woman,” about Calpernia Addams written after the beating death of her boyfriend, Barry Winchell by gay-bashing fellow service members. Cally is a transgender woman and a veteran, having served as a hospital corpsman in the Navy; the movie “Soldier’s Girl” is based on her.

There is actually already a test for this that can be done lowkey. Offer the soldier a choice of bucket hat or beret. If they select beret they hear the siren song of the tranny. Not conclusive enough for you, offer the potential soldier a bowl of delicious soup. Beef Stew or Butternut Squash , if they go with the Butternut Squash soup they’re probably Trans. It’s really not that hard. Additionally, look at the soldiers name if it’s uncommon, is from an anime or sounds made up they’re probably Trans. The symptoms can be tougher to identify but they do fall along the same lines. Is their uniform a bit tight, do they use pomade, what’s their manicure look like? So clearly asking about symptoms is overkill and not needed. Give me a call Doge

Butternut squash soup? Oh dear. I’ve been outed!

This is idiocy, though. I served on a nuclear submarine, one of the folks running the nuclear power plant. Over 2 years of training, high skill set (an enlisted “electrician” with a BS in Physics), and I was a closeted transgender woman. There were others on the same boat. We had a “reunion” of trans crew (“bubbleheads”) a few years ago. There were quite a few of us, heavily trained, and would have been expensive to replace. Mission availability for the boat would have been significantly compromised if we were discharged from service.

Stupidity at work at the top of the chain of command, deliberately reducing readiness of our military to fulfill some macho fantasy of frustrated old men and insecure TV personalities.

My God, I know they are after LGBTQ people, including in the military, but what are "symptoms of being transgender?" Unless the majority of Americans see that we are becoming just like 1930's Germany, we are doomed. However, I will continue to stand up for LGBTQ and other minorities. Perhaps this is how we determine if our country will become who we are supposed to be, or not.

If one can be discharged for Gender Dysphoria, under a Medical/Psychological discharge, would they be under the VA qualifications for monthly disability compensation?

How would it not? Discharge is for Medical reasons!

Aby's avatar

A lot of disability laws and regulations (including the ADA for sure, but many others) had explicit exceptions written into their provisions for people with Gender Identity Disorder or Transsexualism.

The process they are planning to use to discharge people is an administrative separation vs a medical separation. Judge Reyes has noted this contradictory fact in a couple of the hearings.

probable about 2-4 years, that's how the Nazi's did. I think the first thing they will do is revoke transgender people's citizenship, then start deporting us. when that doesn't work so well, which it won't, there coral us into Ghettos. Then, the camps.

But, but, but…how do they feel about people like the muskrat who get plastic surgery in order to look more male? Not that I think that creature is “trans” - it’s way too evil to be trans…but it is trying to appear as something it is not! Like HUMAN!
